Federal Politburo - Both Houses, equivilent to Congress or Parliament

Federal Council - Upper House, equivilent to Senate or House of Lords (or, specifically, the Bundesrat of Germany crossed with the Federation Council of Russia)

Federal Parliament - Lower house, where the fun stuff happens. Equivilent to House of Representatives/ House of Commons. You can read about their misadventures in the Hansard

Just like in the United States of America to the North and the United Mexican States to the south, the Confederate States of North Mexico have two houses, the upper house is called the "Senate," and the lower house is called the "House of Representatives."
The Senate has 15 members, three from each state in the Confederacy. The House membership varies by each census, but at present it has 85 members, one for every roughly 200,000 residents of the Confederacy.

We have the Seven Councils. Each Council holds three councilmen from each province, making a current total of 21 councilmen per council. There is also a head councilman, or currently councildragon.

The highest Council is the Council of All. It holds all species to keep everything fair for the general public.

The other Councils are the Councils of Dinosaurs, Dragons, Pterosaurs, Wizards, Elves, and Humans. They each hold only their designated species so they prevent legislation against their group from passing.

All members are limited to serving one two-year term. This chamber is headed by a speaker.

The Assembly of Cantonal Representatives (the upper house, commonly referred to as the "Cantonal Assembly" or "Cantons") has a membership proportional to the number of cantons with two CRs per canton, currently at 64 CRs. The cantons determine how long each CR will serve and how each CR is selected. This chamber is headed by a speaker, as well.

The Ponies' Chamber is the Herd's unicameral legislature. It counts four hundred fifty seats elected through popular vote using the First-Past-The-Post method. The Ponies' Chamber is vested with great lawmaking powers and autonomy in its decisions. The Chamber's authority is supreme in almost all areas of political life and it has a vast degree of control over government policy, however it is still subject to checks and balances from the other branches of the government. The presiding official of the Ponies' Chamber is the Speaker of the Chamber, usually the leader of the party with the most seats.

by Zimbezia
Zimbezia has a bicameral legislature, called Parliament, comprised of a Senate (upper house) and a House of Assembly (lower house).

Senate
The Senate has 60 members, of whom 30 are indirectly elected and 30 are appointed.

Of the 30 indirectly elected senators, 6 are elected from each province by an electoral college consisting of the members of the provincial council of such province together with the members of the House of Assembly elected for such province. These elections take place according to the principle of proportional representation, each voter having one transferable vote.

Of the 30 appointed senators, 15 are appointed by the State President acting on the advice of the Prime Minister, 10 are appointed by the State President acting on the advice of the Leader of the Opposition, and 5 are appointed by the State President acting in accordance with his own discretion from outstanding persons from economic or social or community organizations and other major fields of endeavor.

Senators serve for a term of six years; the terms are staggered so that one-third of the Senate's membership is up for reelection or reappointment every two years. There are no term limits.

House of Assembly
The House of Assembly has 250 members, of whom 210 are elected members, 30 are specially elected members, 9 are appointed members, and 1, the Attorney-General, is a member ex-officio.

The elected members of the House of Assembly are directly elected by popular vote from single-member electoral divisions using the system of preferential voting (also known as instant-runoff voting).

The specially elected members of the House of Assembly, who are elected indirectly, are elected by the elected members of the House according to the principle of proportional representation, each voter having one transferable vote.

The appointed members of the House of Assembly are appointed by the State President acting in accordance with his own discretion to represent any important interest in Zimbezia which in his opinion is not represented or is inadequately represented.

Members of the House of Assembly serve for a term of five years. There are no term limits.

The Sol-Luna Harmony Council is a unicameral Council of 300 citizens of Ulvena, 50 from each province. They're voted into office by the citizens of each province with a First Past the Post system. No term limits but they must be reelected lawfully each time. The Councillors then decide amongst themselves who to nominate for High Chancellor. High Chancellor is a lifelong, no term position unless 60% of the Harmony Council decides to revoke that position. The High Chancellor is the presiding official of the Harmony Council and one of the four major officials who advise the Emperor.

They create laws and some autonomy in what they pass. The Emperor or Empress may veto any laws they pass. The High Chancellor may also veto any laws they pass. For both cases, if 66% of the Harmony Council disapprove of the veto, it cannot be passed.
