Eh, I'm gonna say that because there isn't an organic equivalent to treads it's close enough. Extenuating circumstances circumvent the definition in this case.

I don't think so. That seems less treadlike than a multitude of legs. I guess either works, though.

Oddly enough, nobody, in any of the three times I posted it, argued against it's presence because it had legs. I think the only performance-based criticism I received was regarding the turret's mobility (limited due to the fack the 'turret' is the creature's head, and thus the joint is built more like a neck than a rotation joint.) Most people seemed understanding that I was making something as tank-like as possible while sticking to the limitations of organic structures

Third and final post

RE; worm/snake body

While that WAS an option, it would also be harder to grow an exoskeleton (what was used for armour) over a body intended to move in such a manner, let alone attach it to the cockroach-like carapace that made up the main body of the tank. Also considered were things like a snail's slime, primarily to combat low-gravity conditions and allow connection to most any surface, or go completely loopy and suggest a localised self-acting telekinetic field, allowing the tank to levitate.

In the end, the caterpillar legs were the fastest and most efficient form of locomotion for what I had in mind, specifically, supporting the plasma generation and vital organs in a way that protected it (somewhat) from abrasion or fire from beneath, while also allowing it to keep up with the Ramset marines in their living crab-bug-eldritch abomination armour suits.

Did a ww2 Tank fire its man gun by a lanyard pull system or what? I was thinking modern tanks must use buttons but ww2 tanks often used artillery based guns so was the mod of firing the same?

The T-80 and T-84 are all-new battle tanks compared to the T-90, and the T-90 uses a large number of technically stolen T-80/84 systems and electronics.

Orussia wrote:To a point. If you have a short-barrel 152mm, you have massive firepower...if you can penetrate.
With a long-barrel 125, you don't have as much stopping power, but you have a much higher chance of actually doing damage.

Aeeeghhh, so much confus.

1. Distinguish between Muzzle Energy and penetration plz. The 125mm is roughly equal to 120mm L44 in muzzle energy (and clearly to superior of the 105mm) firing APFSDS, but it's penetration is constrained by the limited length of projectiles that can be handled by the autoloader.
2. Again the need to differentiate. A 152mm shaped charge will penetrate more than a 120mm shaped charge, even if the gun is significantly less powerful (lower muzzle energy). Conversely KE penetration tracks muzzle velocity, so a high velocity 120mm gun is both more and less powerful/penetrating than a low velocity 152mm gun. Depending on which yardstick you are judging performance by.

I'm positive Sumer said the 2A46 is of equivalent energy to the 105mm L7.
The 2A46 is certainly much less powerful than a NATO 120 though, it must be - its 'case' (propellant in this case) is about 18cm shorter, and probably not a deal wider.

OIC, but the 125mm is still basically the same as the 120mm L44.

Ach, sod it. Recommend any modern MBTs? My Kouralian National Armouries project isn't going well enough to use it.

Things I'm not going to choose are : Warsaw Pact/Russian Tanks, the Abrams and the Leclerc. The first because I don't like the designs, the second because it's too main-stream (and I've read a lot that it's out performed by the British Challenger II - I'm only main-stream if it's helpful!) and the last one because it's French.

(no offence)
