Simple question really how pacifist is your nation and how does it treat pacifism/pacifists?.

We're as pacifist as can be: we don't have an army and we would rather see that no nation would have an army.

The MSA is famous for it's pacifistic attitude toward war and in general. The MSADF is a temporary militia that's only mobilized when we or our underdeveloped nations are attacked. We've officially completely banned firearms, unofficially, the Ground Arm of the MSADF, Spetsnaz, use firearms, the AMD65 with a built-in suppresor, specifically. We also prefer to use diplomacy instead of violence.

As Winston Churchill said, Battles are won by slaughter and maneuver. The greater the general, the more he contributes in maneuver, the less he demands in slaughter. We try to end wars in the quickest way possible, with the least amount of bloodshed. Rarely do we declare war when we, ourselves, are not directly involved.

Our neighbouring nations fear us because we tend to start wars and conflict over....well anything at all. We enjoy violence more than is considered healthy.

Would you consider Switzerland as pacifist? Utiopia is peace-loving, but we do believe that the best way to stay peaceful is to have a strong enough military so that people will think twice before declaring war. We do not have a large professional army, but everybody is expected to do 2 years of military service and to remain ready to be called up at any time if their should be a crisis.

We're pretty pacifist when it comes to affairs with other countries. We don't even have our own military... So if we were ever invaded by another country, we'd have to pay another country to have their military to fight for us.

Within Constarus we have some punishments for citizens who do not obey the law, which are very violent. These range from public torture to death. We also encourage our citizens to throw rocks (or anything else really heavy) at anyone who does not comply with our societal norms. However, our society has no problem with pacifists, as long as they are not hippies.

So even though we don't participate in wars or have a military, to say we were completely anti-violence would be a lie.

The Autocratic Establishment of Syleruias is normally pacifist and only declares war with a casus belli, as the nation is very honorable. It is also very policing, stopping imperialistic nations from assaulting others without a casus belli. It will defend it's nation extremely well and will push into other nations and annex/puppet them if necessary.

Overall, Syleru is mostly pacifist but polices the world to keep order and to keep nations free from imperialistic forces while defending it's homeland with honor and never starts wars without a casus belli.

Pacifism is essentially an anathema to Sidh ways, and for a reason. With treacherous backstabbing humans and murderous scumbag aliens as our closest neighbors, we can be anything but pacifists. We wouldn't mind living in peace and harmony with everyone like some leftie pinko hippies, of course, but this is the real world, by Emperor's blood! It's a very tough universe we live in, and pacifist species usually don't last long, at best becoming a colonial property to some race with less qualms about violence, or simply exterminated without remorse. Or even worse, ending up as slaves to someone like the Skargh, in which case "living hell" doesn't even begin to describe what awaits them for the rest of the miserable existence of their kind. We do not wish to share that fate, and more, we do not wish to live at the mercy of the powerful, so in order to do so we must be the most powerful in the Galaxy. Military power, the power over life and death, is the ultimate power there is, from which all other forms of power derive.

A Sidh may, of course, refuse from direct involvement in offensive warfare, which is strictly a business of professional volunteers, but when an Imperial world is invaded by hordes of murderous alien scum or depraved human degenerates, it is the sacred duty of every citizen to take up arms and defend what righteously belongs to the glorious Sidh race. In such case, anyone preaching cowardly un-Sidh defeatist ideas like pacifism is deemed a traitor and dealt with accordingly. Not that many Sidhae would care to adopt such ridiculous views anyway...

Simply put, if Mahatma Gandhi had been a Sidh, we would have sent him over to the Skargh to discuss his ideas of non-violence with them, and see what they have to say about it. In which case history would probably remember Gandhi only as some crazy pacifist guy who was tortured to death by the Skargh in some unimaginably horrible way for the sheer amusement of it.

Historically we are not a pacifist nation due to our long martial history. The longest period we have gone without a war is 9 years. However the new premier has taken a pacifist approach to war as the military is being updated and he wants them finished before another war.

We've basically been more or less continually at war since our nation was formed. We carry out raids even against nations we're not at war with in order to weaken them so we have an advantage when we finally go to war. Our people are required by law to carry weapons in public.
