Krala Sau Factbook (Work in Progress)

Postby Krala Sau » Sun Feb 05, 2012 11:06 am

Krala Sau Factbook.

Edition 1.

Leadership Roles, in order from Highest to Lowest:

1. High Select.
2. Lower Select.
3. The People’s Few.

The High Select is the highest power in the nation. His word is the Ultimate Law.

The Lower Select is the second lowest power in the nation. His word is law, unless the High Select says otherwise.

The People’s Few is a council made up of the leaders of each individual state. They meet every month to discuss interior policies, state relations, and national laws. Any national laws passed by The People’s Few must be approved by either the High Select or Lower Select.

Current Leaders:

High Select David
Lower Select Warren
Jarl James of Dicernia
Jarl Benjamin of Galir
Jarl George of Evelstead
Jarl Martin of Calimburg
Jarl Puddinghead of Aleda

Acquiring Leadership:
Upon the death of the High Select, the Lower Select assumes his position. The new High Select then chooses a new Lower Select.

Upon the death of the Lower Select, the High Select appoints a new one from the rank of the Enforcers.

Each state elects a new Jarl every 8 years. There is no limit to the amount of times a Jarl can be elected.

Location:
Image

Krala Sau is an island about twice the size of Australia, on the planet of Moderis (Pronounced mow-dare-iss), in a galaxy about 5 million light years away from the Milky Way.

It is the only (known) nation on Moderis.

Technology:
The Fluffy Lunar Republic* of Krala Sau is a
semi-advanced nation, with a technological level a few years ahead of Earth. They mainly use Hydro-electric energy to power the country, with a few states using nuclear power plants. They’ve never been to space (The above image of Moderis is an artists interpretation), however the state of Calimburg is developing a space program.

Military:

The national military is composed of 20 individuals, trained to be elite shock troopers known as “Enforcers”. They are lead by the High Select, who is himself an Enforcer.
Each state has varying sizes of military, with Evelstead having the largest and Galir having the smallest.

History:

The Time Before The Marks:
In the early years of Moderis, the people were solitary creatures, only caring for themselves.
As time went on, the plants and animals grew scarcer and scarcer. A few Saunens** decided to group together, in order to take down larger prey like the Galahasti (A creature similar to the mammoth, but scaly instead of furry). This worked for a while, and more Saunens joined the group. While the majority of the group were hunters, a few started small farms around the main camp. This idea caught on, and the farmers were known as “Modarsins”, or “Tenders of the ground”.
Over time, several other groups were started across the island. The different tribes started trading with each other, and sometimes warred with each other. This went on for thousands of years. Smaller groups banded together into larger ones, and eventually there were only five gigantic groups left. They constantly fought with each other over territory, until one day there was a massive battle. All sides had terrible losses, and an agreement was formed between the five chiefs. They would join their 5 tribes into one nation. They bickered over who would rule, until a soldier suggested that none of them should, but that a single person with no ties to any tribe should rule. The leaders sent their soldiers out to find such a person, and to bring them back. A few weeks later, 8 people were brought to the scene of the battle. 3 fled at the sight of all the corpses. The remaining 5 were lined up in front of the chiefs. They were: a hunter, a raider, a merchant, a thief, and a lone Modarsin. 2 of the leaders voted for the hunter, and 2 voted for the Modarsin. The last chief suggested that they both rule, with the Modarsin being granted a higher position than the hunter. This idea was accepted, and the Modarsin was renamed the High Select. The High Select named the island “Krala Sau“. The raider, merchant, and thief recognized the significance of this, and decided to form a group dedicated to marking down important events. They called themselves “The Marks”. So ended The Time Before, and so began The First Age of The Marks.

The First Age:
After the Meeting of the Chiefs, the High Select formed them into a council of advisors, and sent them back to their camps. The council was called in each month, and the High Select passed a ruling on each issue they brought up. After 500 years, the council renamed themselves “The People’s Few”, but didn’t change much otherwise. These are the only noteworthy events of The First Age.

The Second Age:
Not much is known about the second age. The Marks recorded a tale of “A woman from the Sun”. The tale says that a loud ball of fire crashed into the island one day, and a figure in white stepped out of it. After making a few odd noises, the figure removed its head to reveal a woman underneath. She attempted to communicate with the Saunens, but none were able to understand her. Not much more is recorded about her. The rest of the tablet with the Second Age’s history was broken off, so nothing more is known about this time. Most modern historians believe that this tale was made up by the Marks, although they are adamant that it is the truth.

The Third Age:
The current era of time. The Saunens were renamed to the Krails, and High Select Geoffrey was able to contact The World Assembly, joining a universe-wide coalition of planets. The government kept in contact with the rest of the assembly through a secret device deep within the Main Hall in Dicernia.
After the death of Geoffrey, Lower Select Charles became the head of the nation. He was a cruel man, driven insane by his lust for power. He lead Krala Sau into a dark age, and cut off communications with the WA. He ruled for a year, until Lower Select David challenged him to a Kalishikar, or Battle for the Throne. He defeated Charles, and reestablished contact with the World Assembly. It's taken awhile, but the nation is almost fully recovered from the entire ordeal.

States:
The 5 States of Krala Sau are the modern versions of the old tribes. Each State still retains what traits made their states unique, with only a few changes between the old ways and the new.

Dicernia:
Image

Dicernia is the capital of Krala Sau, and is the land that the Great Battle was fought on. It is the center of most activities on the island, including trade.

Galir:
Image

Galir is the smallest state of Krala Sau. It’s also the home of the Marks, and is the intellectual capital of the planet.

Evelstead:
Image

Evelstead is the largest state of Krala Sau, and is the most willing to fight. The citizens of Evelstead are trained for war from age 14.

Aleda:
Image

Aleda is the arts and crafts capital of Krala Sau. They make almost all of the fabrics used in the land, and almost all famous art pieces come from this state.

Calimburg:

Calimburg is the technological and engineering capital of Krala Sau. The citizens of this state are known for their resourcefulness and ingenuity.

Population:
At the time of writing, Krala Sau has a total of 2.453 billion citizens. Evelstead holds the highest state population at 600 million citizens, and Galir holds the least state population at a mere 8 million citizens.
The age of citizens is largely varied throughout the states, but most citizens fall between the ages of 18 and 49.

Religion:

Each state has it’s own views on religion. The official religion of Galir, for example, is Early Markonian (The worship of the first Marks), while the religion of Evelstead is Eques Bellium (The worship of War Riders). As Evelstead is the largest state, it’s religion is generally considered the National one.

Other state religions include:
Aleda: Pastellia, the worship of color.
Calimburg: The worship of machines, and ones own hands.
Dicernia: No official religion.

Communications:
Almost everyone uses the national VideoPhone service for their day-to-day needs, with secure channels used for government agents and the military.
Television was deemed unnecessary by the general population, and faded away rather quickly. The most common form of entertainment is a chat with a random stranger on the VideoPhone.

Economy:
Krala Sau is coming out of a minor recession, and appears to have a stable, good economy at the time of writing.

Special Note: The people of Krala Sau are not human, although they are close. They appear human in all areas except the eyes, which are dark slits (Similar to a snake or lizard).

Extra Special Note: There is a large continent on the other side of the planet that hasn’t been discovered by the Krails yet.
*Pretitle subject to change, by the will of the High Select
**The meaning of this term was lost to time, but it's believed to mean "Lizardlike" by the Marks.

Author's Note: This factbook is still being developed, however I wanted to go ahead and release this information.
