No. Its better.

Actually in that case its not technically a autogyro. To actually hover it would need the rotor to be powered somehow which sifts you into the realms of a gyrocopter or compound gyroplane. With an autogyro you can fly very slowly and appear to hover as long as you are facing into a strong enough wind but not actually enter a true hover as your rotor is unpowered.

There is also the fact that using turbofan isn't goign to be anywhere near as efficient as a turbo props unless you are going for the top end of autogryo/gyroplane perfromance i.e. a max speed in the 400-500mph region). They are of course cooler if you are rolling on role of cool.

AH-80 Blackfoot:

(Image)

The Blackfoot is a stealthy, highly agile gunship that represents the latest in helicopter design. It is equipped with an advanced fly-by-wire system.

The AH-80's targeting systems are very advanced, too. Earlier designs were connected with the gunner's helmet, but in the AH-80, the targeting system monitors the eyes, making it way more accurate. Once a target is picked out, her 30 mm minigun is capable of punching holes right through the target. The Blackfoot is also equipped with several Joint Strike Missiles, making it a deadly tank-killing helicopter.

The canard rotor/wing spins but can be fixed to act like a wing. Early pilots were worried by the aircraft's lack of a tail rotor, but after going up in the air, their concerns disappeared. The canard rotor/wing allows the AH-80 to perform an array of aerobatic maneuvers, giving it incredible maneuverability compared to other helicopters.

Vehicle Details

Armaments: 30 mm minigun, 12 JSMs
Height: 9'9"
Length: 45'3
Width: 18'2
Weight: 11,000 lbs
Crew: 2

Hm...I can put transport choppers?
OK.

V-25 Goshawk:

Image

The V-25 Goshawk is an infantry transport "helicopter" in use by the Grand Imperial Armed Forces.

The V-25 Goshawk, one of the best infantry transport helicopters in history, was designed specifically to be able to move and deploy troops anywhere in the world. With sealed-enviromental systems, and the strongest and most technologically advanced rotors in the world, it is capable of deploying anywhere in the world, from Rime to the Voltaic Deserts and the Venom Archipelago, it has become the number one choice for Grand Imperial Infantry Transportation, making it a vital part of the Grand Imperial Armed Forces.

All Goshawks in use by the Ghost Spec-Ops Forces are upgraded with stealth capabilities, allowing secret infiltration of facilities and/or nations.

Vehicle Details

Armament: None
Crew: 2
Passengers: 20

V-120 Valkyrie:

Image

The V-120 Valkyrie is deployed onto the battlefield with the sole purpose of landing friendly vehicles and getting them into the fray as quickly as possible. This air vehicle's design is based off of that of the V-25 Goshawk troop carrier, except it has a larger body for transporting IFVs and tanks. It is designed to be able to carry the 4 of the heaviest vehicles in the Grand Imperial arsenal, the M5 Warrior tank.

Gyrodyne is a subset of autogyro.

They may be considered as such, but there is a big difference in that the lift rotor of an Autgyro is unpowered, whilst the lift rotor of a gyrodyne is capable of being powered which allows for a shorter or even vertical takeoff.

No, a harrier is an V/STOL jet aircraft that uses its output from its jet engines to take off vertically and don't hover in battle...autogyros predate helicopters
