INTRODUCTION

Ynys Golau is a kingdom on the island of the same name in the south-east of Sovngarde. The country is known to be isolationist and, thanks to its geography, has a long history in which it wasn't once conquered by external enemies. Of couse in times of aerial warfare, this is relativised, but nevertheless the state is protected well.
The feudal government sets value on a strong and free economy and the preservation of moral values. The laws on marriage are very conservative, and so is the role of women in society.

FOUNDING

The first time the Lords on the island Ynys Golau worked together was after the Great War (1675 - 1696). The remaining houses, lead by the House Hrothgar, House Rasal and House Northanger, founded the Council of Lords. Once every then years, they elected a duke as their leader. The time was shaped by a surprisingly peaceful behaviour of all Lords and didn't see any wars. Conflicts could be solved judicial or by duels. This era ended with the "Davii Complot" when House Davii, with the support of many other houses, could manage to have their leader Rhaegus elected as Duke (1810) and 4 years later crowned him as King of Ynys Golau while beheading the Lords and heirs of many other Houses.

THE DAVII REIGN

Under the reign of the Davii, the simple people had to suffer hard since the Davii Kings were intellectuals that spent much the money on art and culture. King Julius II. (1829 - 1849), the "Mad King" even wanted to eliminate great parts of the poorer population to "clean" the land and save it from pollution and exploitation. With that decree, the Telerion rebellion began.

TELERION REBELLION

The formerly less House of Telerion who holded High Rock had become the most important opponent of the Daviis. As Lord Mycah II. tried to inhibit the "Save the earth Decree", King Julius II. ousted and denounced the Telerions and sent the Thargon Army to set High Rock under siege. (1876)
Soon after that, the House Blackmarsh and the two lines of House Rasal, once great but ousted by the Daviis after their complot, joined the rebellion and marched for Duskvale. Lord Marbald Lovegood, already not a big friend of the Daviis, surrenderd and joined, too. During the winter, High Rock was besieged, and two times the defenders sallied out without causing an end. In spring 1877, the Northangers of Northanger Abbey, the Whitewaters of Shenzen and the Elvenwoods of Eldau set their armies in march. Duskvale was beleaguered by a Whitewater army.
Another winter passed, and early in 1878, High Rock could break the siege and dispel the Thargons who retrieved to Scuols. The Pentii from Snowspire marched north-east to attack High Rock again. Meanwhile, House Hrothgar marched east, apparently to help the royal forces. In Winter, the Pentii army rested in Eldau.

Expected by no-one, the Hrothgars attacked Snowspire and released the imprisoned uncle of the last Snow Lord, Buliwyf, who claimed the hold for House Snow. Then they both took a small road to the Fog Bay, sailed to Shenzen and captured it since it was almost unmanned. King Julius II. Davii himself had meanwhile led an army south to conquer Duskvale.
1879 began, and the Pentii marched back to regain Snowspire. They took it after a few weeks and then again marched north. Meanwhile, the Davii army was driven back by the Lovegoods and joined with the Whitewater and Thargon army. Lord Mycah II. Telerion again marched west to face them. The Blackmarshes formed new and joined the Telerions near Duskvale. There, Mycah II. was proclaimed King by the attendand Lords. Hrothgar and Snow arrived in time, so did the little army of House Acantros. The Northangers and Elvenwoods were near the south border of the Duskvale forest as the Battle of the three Kings began.

Since the large Pentii army approached form the south, King Mycah decided to attack the united Davii, Whitewater and Thargon army. Together with the Acantros force, the royal armies took stand in the forest what is often seen as the determining fault. Not able to deploy the heavy cavalery of the Acantroses, the royal armies tried to encircle the Hrothgars and Snows. Lord Marbald Lovegood, coming from Duskvale, broke the right wing of the Davii main army and enabled Mycah to force through. In that moment, the Elvenwood and Northanger forces attacked from the south and the Hrothgar / Snow armies were scattered between the Daviis and the new arriving armies. Lord Marbald Lovegood and King Mycah were slain, but Lord Sirius Blackmarsh could drive off the Thargons and the Northangers to open a new front against the Davii. Mycah's son William was proclaimed King on the battlefield and lead the remaining forces against the opposite flank of Julius II. While Elvenwood and Whitewater were encircled and changed sides, Northanger withdrew from battle. The unsorted Davii army was scattered and King Julius was captured by Telerion soldiers. The battle was over and Julius II. was beheaded on battlefield.

Greyhaven was besieged for just a few days and then surrendered and was given to the House Blackmarsh by the new King. The Pentii lost Snowspire after their Lord was assassinated in the city. It was given to House Snow. House Rasal stayed homeless but gained the friendship and protection of the king. They settled on the plains north of Northanger. High Rock became capital of the kingdom.

THE INDUSTRIALISATION AND THE YOUNG HISTORY

Unter the Telerion reign, the rights of the Lords were restored and great efforts made to boost science and technology. The growing population could soon be nourished well and new technologies made life easier. The first half of the 20th century was called the "Golden Era". The Rasals came to economic power. The state was able to amortize all his debt and reduced fiscal expenses.

The estate of the older line of House Rasal. There are many non-noble, but important families with influence on local politics. They have their own estates that works like a castle, being the middle of the surrounding acres of the common peasants.


A modern "Cowgirl" from a ranch near Lake Curunir. The population of the plains is very family-orientated and many of them are farmers. The girls are considered as the most beautiful of Ynys Golau, the current queen is a "Southern Belle" too.
