History

1800s-1900s

The Earth Sphere Coalition can trace it's roots back to the 1800s, when the region they inhabit was split between four nations. The Republic of Tyran, which relied heavily on it's ports, The Ephrya Empire, who relied on it's mining exports, The United Gorasnaya Coalition, and the largely agrarian Union of Embry. For ages the Ephryan Empire and the Tyran Republic warred among themselves for wealth, prestige and for access to the lucrative ports in Tyran which the Empire felt was being unjustly controlled by them. Soon Gorasnaya allied itself with the Empire on the promise of the use of it's ports, and Embry reluctantly united with the Tyrans to stave off the increasingly militaristic Gorasnaya. By the dawn of the 1900s, all four nations were on pins and needles around one another. One single incident would throw the whole region into war.

1900s-1910

The one incident that caused open war between the four nations was the assassination of the Prime Minister of Tyran, one Joseph Robles. During a speech, advocating for peace in the region, a lone Gorasnayan assassin shot him in the head. Promptly arrested it was revealed that he was under orders from the Ephryan Empire and the Gorasnayan Military Council. This sparked immediate outrage and soon the drums of war were sounded and Tyran Troops quickly invaded the Empire and it's ally. For years the Empire fought a losing battle, only the will of their king kept them fighting. Attempting one final gamble, Tyran and Embry made one final push towards the capital of the Empire. As the city was under siege, the King decided to surrender telling his advisers that "...enough blood had been spilled for a thousand lifetimes and I will not see any more of my young men die for me and my greedy endeavors." As the leaders met at a Peace Summit, it was agreed that fighting like this could never break out again. The best solution, as they saw it was to unite under one banner. So at the end of the summit, a new nation was born, a democracy known as the Union of Ordered Coalitions. A union among the various political groups that formed during the war would lead the nations as a single democratic superstate before a civil war would tear them apart.
