History

Foundation
The country was settled in the year 1275 by the Litthani explorer Lincoln Lanceaster, who settled the City of Lanceastersire, on the South Eastern tip of the country. Lanceaster was struck by the beauty he saw in the new land, and wished to use the area as a place to promote spirituality, freedom and non-agression.

“The sun shimmered off the distant waves, sparkling on reflecting rays, as if calling on my soul. And the winds that whispered, spoke my name, while the falling sun saw end of day, yet in the shadows, I stood not alone”

The fledgeling country, known then as "the West Alpaisne Territory" was largely unexplored, and remained that way until the Great War.

The First Great Invasion
In the year 1453 the Eastern Nation of Solavice, with no warning, forcefully invaded the Sovereign nation of Mattese, with the apparent intention of annexing its lands with its own. What followed was a virtual bloodbath. The unprepared nation, not intending to go down without a fight, being outnumbered and outflanked, was easily overtaken.
Word of the attack was slow in reaching citizens of the neighboring Principality of New Ansley, who were shocked and horrified at what was happening just east of them. Prince Aaron, the leader of Ansley, and one of the first to hear the news, retreated west to the Grand Duchy of Littany, hoping to escape the arm of the oppressive Solavice Government unscathed.
Local men went about Arming themselves throughout the countryside. Joliet Apernadth-Wilhelm, a local seamstress was instrumental in organizing the people to simply leave the country.

“We have witnessed these atrocities, waged against our neighboring nations, let us not fall to the same fate. Valor cannot validate the stupidity of those who are doomed to replicate the blunders of history."

Apernadth-Wilhelm had struck a nerve, and her words and a detailed plan of retreat swept swiftly through the countryside, with increasing effectiveness, simultaneously establishing a single state of mind for the nation and increasing women’s equality.
Apernadth-Wilhelm and her devout following headed west into the Imperial Grand Duchy of Litthany, but were greeted with opposition. She was abruptly informed that her group, numbering over 2000 people, would not be granted Amnesty in the Grand Duchy, and would have to find refuge elsewhere.

After a brief tongue lashing from Apernadth-Wilhelm, the Earl of Litthany allowed the group to pass in a mass exodus through the southern half of the state, in the intention of traveling farther west, into the unknown and vastly unexplored “West Alpaisne Territory.”

The Apernadth Group, as they would later be referred, founded Syrche’s first Capital city of Wilktja, just 50 miles north of Lanceastersire.

Eventually, the oppressed people of the former nation of Mattese rose up in a great revolution, organizing the Muskowii Revolt which involved the infiltration of the Solavice Government, and the massacre of most of its leaders, effectively ending the Solavice Expansion effort, and partially reinstating the former state of Mattese.

After the Invasion
Believing that a good settlement had been established in the west, more people began to come to the area, and Wilktja soon doubled in size.
One of the men who had travelled to the ungoverned land was a man by the name of Savnder White.

At the time, the city had a loosely assembled government, which consisted of Joliet Apernadth-Wilhelm and several others who kept order. Savnder, being a man of knowledge told of the horrible problems to come if some kind of definitive government were not established.
Savnder also believed that despite the group’s devotion to its leader, the rest of the nearby countries were not ready to see a Female Leader. He touted his vast knowledge of policy, and with the People’s Consent, rose to the Principality “As a figurehead,to please the other nations, and for no reason other.”

Haus of White (1454-1488)
Savnder, over time, grew to be heavily associated with the policy of the young nation. Savnder, the representative figurehead of Syrche, and Joliet Apernadth-Wilhelm together held 50% of power within the fledgling nation. the rest was controlled by the democratically elected Hause of Commons (Havs Zet Kommene.)

• 1455 - Joliet Apernadth-Wilhelm authors the first Constitution (Lavn Vin Cond'en Zet Terre), which is later revised by Savnder White
• 1456 - Constitution is ratified and passed the Haus of Common, coming into effect immediately.
• 1466 - Joliet Apernadth-Wilhelm relinquishes her title, honouring the set 12 year term limit.
• 1466- Dean Reitt becomes President.
• 1472 - Reitt is defeated by Markus Andersson
• 1473 - Andersson pushes staunch reforms, and his following rallies together as the Conservative movement begins.
• 1478 - Andersson is reelected.
• 1479 - Savnder White dies from Heart Attack.
• 1479 - Savnder II takes the thrown.
• 1479-1484 - Savnder II and Markus Andersson are often seen arguing over issues of diplomacy. Savnder II feels that the Prince, being royalty, should hold a higher power.
• 1482 - Conservative, Statist and Progressive movements begin to spring up in factions.
• 1483 - Savnder II is murdered at his estate, leaving 13 year old Savnder III to the nobility.
• 1484 - For the first time, the Progressive Social movement sees favourability, electing Reider Mifflin to the Presidency.

It is your patriotic duty to BUY DOMESTIC!

The commons discuss issues relavent among the peoples and consider solutions by proposing and voting on bills. If a bill passes by Majority, it will immediately go into effect.
*The only major stipulation is a budgeted spending limit which cannot be surpassed by the Haus without approval from the Governor and the Secretary of the Treasury.

• The duty of the Squire is to be a representative of the Duke for his district.
• They also communicate back and forth directly with the Duke.
• The squires occasionally meet with civilians.

The Train is still the most common, and cheapest way to travel, but we have seen a rise in automobile ownership over the last few years.

if parents do not wish to educate their own child, or if they are orphaned or otherwise without parent, the child may take part in the Church-Led Perochial school, which is partially funded by the Government, but is mostly supported by donations.

Coal is a rich domestic export for our country, and is also used to power the country's Rail System.
Gasoline is a highly expensive import, and therefore, it restricts the amount of citizens that can use Personal Automobiles, though, the price comes down slightly when home refined Ethanol is exported or used domestically. Some international policies have led to compromises, and sharply reduced the pricing of Gasoline.
Wood is an abundant commodity used for building and heating.
Electric increasingly popular, especially on the coast, but expensive.
