Does your nation have a problem with hate crimes? Is a particular population at greater risk? Are hate crimes prosecuted differently? In Venetoland, our LGBT population is the most at risk. Hate Crimes are eligible for the death penalty.

The King does not differentiate between crimes. Crime is crime, as far as he is concerned. The sufferer of robbery or assault is no more robbed or assaulted than he was because he is or is not gay. They are robbed or assaulted because the offender is a criminal, plain and simple. The criminal shall be dealt with. Restitution to the offended. Increased insurance rates for the offender. Repeat offenders will receive just punishment up to and including incarceration at the Royal prison where he will work off his debt to the crown. Once his term is settled, he will be released without the opportunity to receive proper life, health, or arbitration insurance. He will be responsible for himself. Any crimes committed while in such a state will see him properly attached to the offended party for life.

Hate crimes do occur in Valcluse, with the reaction to said crimes by law enforcement according to severity. Verbal abuse is often let off with a warning. Persistent verbal abuse, even when detained by law officers, is an arrestable offence and most are required to pay reparations and are referred to counselling. Malicious bodily harm is arrestable and the offender is often sent to prison, with five years being the standard scentence. Reparations are also paid. The families/individuals who suffer these crimes also have the right to sue on top of the scentences given as well as other things.

Most hate crimes stem from religious intolerance and there has been a particular recent conflict between Catholics and Muslims. Most simply brush it off as religious lunatics who have chips on their shoulders.

There are no laws that give harsher penalties because hate is involved. While we are a tolerant nation, we see it as an issue of free speech. If someone kills another, if hate was involved they are every bit as likely to be executed as if it were a robbery gone wrong.

Hate crimes are punished by excessive guilt trips and other excessive methods of discipline. Penalty for other crimes would be served accordingly, for example, if the hate crime has murder in it, the hate crime would be punished as latter described and as how murder is punished.

As a multi-species collective, prejudice and hate crimes are an unfortunate reality of having various sapients live together. All our species are doomed with the typical 'nature of sapience,' and that nature includes an inclination to separate one's own kind from an 'other' that is a threat to one's race. However, the Brotherhood was intended to be a refuge for sapience in all its forms, and thus our legal system and, thankfully, most of the populace do not take kindly to prejudice, especially when it manifests itself in destructive manners like hate crimes.

Hate Crimes are punished based on the offense, and ideally the punishment fits the crime. Murders are reciprocated with the offender given a fair trial and then, if guilty, said individual is executed. Assault and Battery usually results in rehabilitation and, for repeat offenders, more drastic measures are taken to ensure that they will no longer be a threat to others. Other punishments are administered to prevent the crimes in question.

While there are groups within Confectrix that are recognized and categorized as Hate Groups, they don't often act out with violence, and aren't frequently connected with crime. If it can be proven that a crime committed was perpetrated because of the victim's beliefs, skin, religion, sexuality, etc., then the perpetrator would face a harsh sentence, comparatively, as well as required support group frequenting, to find the underlying cause of their hate.

If an organization is found to be part of a hate crime, the official policy of the Imperial Criminal Cases Department is to attempt to plant an agent into their midst, to find if they pose a threat to any citizens. If it is found that they plan to commit more offenses, the organization can be brought down under Imperial law, and those who can be proven guilty of planning or committing these crimes sentenced to prison.
