The first inhabitants of Gaiso were refugees from a civil war on the mainland. They first settled near what is now Gaiso City in the year 962 of the Common Era. They established a Constitutional Principality, with the first prince being Prince Albertus Gaiso I (for who the city and nation were named). For the next 1,049 years, Gaiso would be ruled almost uninterrupted by a Prince.

Over time, the Principality grew corrupt, marginalizing the power Parliament and the people. Disrespect and anger grew towards the Prince until December 3rd, 1998: revolution broke out against Prince Albertus Onro XXIII. The dissenters were lead by Lt. General James Gorbon of the People's Revolutionary Army, General George Vehn of the People's Revolutionary Army, and Colonel Henry of the People's Revolutionary Army. For four years, civil war raged. Despite having support of over 75% of the population, the People's Revolutionary Army lacked munitions and money. What they lacked in materiel, though, they made up for in morale and numbers. Young men and women from all over the nation rose up against their oppressors, and took the nation province by province.

The final assault on the capitol was costly. Over 3,500 lives were lost on both sides. Once the revolutionary forces reached the Prince's palace, Albertus XXIII took his own life, ending the Principality in Gaiso forever. After the Revolution, there was a general election. With a vast majority, on April 7th, 2004, the Democratic Socialist Party of Gaiso was elected to Congress, with a total of 27 out of 40 seats. Its closest competitor, the Communist Party of Gaiso had 5 seats.

5. The government is made of 3 branches. Legislative, led by the President, judiciary, lead by the High Judge, and the executive, made up of the Premiere and his advisers. The legislative branch is made up of a congress of 40 representatives, 4 from each province. There are an additional 8 members selected by the Premiere to oversee and ensure the Premiere's will is carried out. The Judicial branch ensures that law is maintained.

1. Gaiso has a small military, only maintaining a force of 10,000 for defense and foreign aid. 2,000 maintain the People's Air Force, 3,000 for the People's Army, 2,000 for the People's Navy, 2,500 for the People's Marine Corps, and 500 for Special Operations.
