One does ship off new stock to fight a war overseas.
Unless you suggest they stay in a museum???

Well, idk what you'd do, but I'd keep the best/newest for myself (i.e. homeland defense) and maybe send over some of the older stuff.

It depends on the relative quality of the new stuff versus the stuff already in service, how critical the foreign expedition is, the likelihood of home invasion, numerous factors. You don't want your expeditionary force to be stuck with weapons that suck, but neither do you want to send them off with untested equipment that you may not have enough spares to fix properly when the inevitable breakages occur. If you've got enough of the new stuff to send spares, and your production is ramped up and ready, you ought to be phasing the stuff in to your primary combat troops so that they can take full advantage of it. If the field is critical enough and you're pushed hard enough, you might even throw it in as best you can, but this is less than optimal.

As a rule of thumb, you'd 'send over' newer materiel as you rotate in combat units who've trained with them. You're never going to keep troops on the frontline for the entire duration of a war long enough to allow you to deploy newer equipment - optimally, it's the fresh combat units who'll be equipped with the new equipment they've had time to qualify with before fighting with it.

For example, IIRC the first US combat units in WWII in the pacific still had the Springfield rifles, and then a few months later the newer Garands began arriving.

That's not how US deployment worked in World War Two, but then against US doctrine then was pretty shitty.

ReppleDepple system was the most criminally inefficient part of the whole US war effort, and was responsible for a lot of needless casualties, with many divisions loosing over 200% combat strength during the campaign. It was wasteful, hurt unit morale and cohesion, prevented the development of much unit elan, and was generally just stupid from top to bottom. Nobody should be using this system in MT unless you're going for straight human-wave doctrine.

ZSB:

It is a simple conversion of the standard Stahnese Regional Transport Omnibus of which Stahn has a huge supply.

The windows have been removed and the gabs are now protected by bars, many spikes are mounted to prevent zombies from climbing on top,a bulldozer blade has been attached to the front to enable it to push its way thru hordes of zombies and on the roof of the bus, two hatches have been installed so that riflemen or machine gunners can shoot from above.

The conversion is cheap and does not take a long time nor much work.

Provided the bus is manned by 5 adequately trained riflemen, with a good supply of ammo, and the enemies are not armed or provided with equipment ,the bus should be able to provide full protection to a passenger load of up to 12 individuals against hordes of up to a 100 enemy combatants per 40 m².

TBH as it stands some of the spike arrays actually look like they would in fact be conducive to climbing.

I was not only looking at preventing the zombies from climbing on the bus but also at getting them stuck along the way and preventing them from sticking on the bus because of the spikes.

The lower side of the sickle shaped blades are the sharp bits. Below the top row there are 3 more rows of spikes. The second highest would indeed unfortunately provide a grip for a zombie but it's carcass would likely get stuck on the row beneath that. the top row does not provide a grip because the zombies would have to hold on to the sharp bit. The row beneath that would also likely get the zombie stuck on them.

Pushing them off by using polls from within the bus would be made more convenient because of the spikes curving downwards.

At least that was what I was thinking while I was trying to make this bus zombie proof. I felt I did have to make comprimises somewhere.

The spikes on the hood are not ideally angled but if I would turn the spikes mounted there downwards it would have been even worse I think. Perheps I would have been better of using unangled spikes there. :(

And during World War II, the US Air Force was a subdivision of the Army - there're plenty of things that were as they were then that aren't as they are now - 'now' being the context in which I'm placing my observations. :P

(of course what I posited isn't a universal statement by any means, hence my taking care to preface it with an 'optimally')

We have more buses then we have miniguns. This vehicle is only intended as a cheap adition to our zombie fighting and population protecting efforts.

A minigun would cost more then one of these buses! D:

And Stahn doesn't have any anyway.

We have plenty of buses, what we don't have are miniguns.

Our ZSB's are way cheaper then the ones in your link. We sell them to our allies for only 5000 Garnachs.

I have been told that a minigun could easily cost up to 300.000 Garnachs! :o

Apparently French engineers are trained to replace the Leclerc's powerpack in an hour and twenty minutes, and the entire autoloader in two and a half.

It seems incredibly optimistic and in practice I doubt they can actually do it, but for the record it's what the actual engineers themselves claim. :S
