Traditional Hodoran garb consists of a sarashi style strip of cloth made from bamboo fiber, typically 10 sBR (2.969 m/9.74 ft) long and 0.2 sBR (5.938 cm/2.34 in) wide wound around the chest. A shorter strip of cloth of the same material half the length but the same width is combined with a small apron of fabric to be worn similarly to the Japanese fundoshi.
The outer layer consists of a sleeveless top, split at the sides with a hole in the middle for the head, and a small belt 2.5 sBR (74.225 cm/29.22 in) long and 0.1 sBR (2.969 cm/1.17 in) wide threaded through loops and tied around the top just beneath the chest. A rectangle 1.5 sBR (44.535 cm/17.53 in) by 4 sBR (118.76 cm/46.76 in) wrapped around the waist over the top, with the longer edge parallel to the ground and another belt 2.5 sBR by 0.1 sBR threaded through loops sewn into the wrap and tied at the side.
The fabrics are available in a wide variety of colors, and bamboo is used because it is plentiful in Hodori; at least 75% of Hodori is covered in bamboo.

Yes, because clearly those who require their women to wear the most have the most respect for their women.

Because they’re weak. At one point, self-control was regarded as the hallmark of masculinity. But alas, no more.

“It’s superbly ironic that we men have been taught to be masters of stoicism, utterly skilled at tolerating fear, pain, and fatigue, yet when it comes to sexual arousal we’re easily overwhelmed. Lust reduces us men to weaklings.”
(Gary R. Brooks, The Centerfold Syndrome [San Francisco: Jossey-Bass, 1995], p. 184)

What a pathetic commentary.

Old Beringia wrote:Nudity is for savages. What self respecting man would let his wife outside in the nude. Even if she insisted she would be beaten by her husband in Old Beringia because nudity is illegal here.

Ah. The nation that speaks of savages then proceeds to speak of beating women. How civilized.

“Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous to men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and inquity.”

Qualan culture is very conservative and there is a dress code for both men and women, but as this thread is about women I will concentrate on the female dress code.

When out in public they should have their head covered at all times with no hair showing. They should wear loose clothing that covers the whole arm and goes down to the ankles. Not trousers; a skirt, loose dress or similar. Items such as the abaya, niqaab or burqa are optional not mandatory, but a lot of women do choose to wear them.

If it's skimpy, black, tight-fitting and slightly shiny, it's worn by Thanatophian women.

Harishan women are free to wear whatever they please.
Western fashions are very popular.

Our traditional female garb is the Yahomo. Similar to a burka, but made of silk and with amazing patterns and prints, more a kin to indian sari or japanese kimonos. While most woman no longer wear it, during weddings, circumcisions, funerals, graduations, state holidays, and applying for a home loan, they will often wear the Yahomo.

Girls who have not reached puberty wear an item known as a Yahoma, which is very similar, but lacks any sort of face veil.

This is close to the kind of robes usually worn by Inuto men and women:
Image

Robe length and colour is extremely variable and a matter of personal taste. Under the robe, a silk skirt or dress is usually worn by women (men wear a silk kilt-like garment or a sheet of silk tied into a trouser-type garment). Feathered headdresses are a former high-status symbol that have become a desirable fashion accessory. Jewellery for women tends towards necklaces, bracelets and anklets. Headscarves are used when physical work is being done, or for trips into the forest, but this is a matter of practicality rather than any religious symbolism - it just keeps the hair out of your face and the bugs out of your hair.

Body paint is worn for religious ceremonies. Sometimes with clothes too; sometimes without.

Which means then that "whatever they want or lack thereof" is not, in fact, true.

Basically whatever they want, women have rights equal to men in our country. Also, unlike men, women are free to be nude in public and many of our women are scantily clad or completely nude. Dominatrix costumes fully equipped with handcuffs and a small whip have become very widepsread lately, and their popularity is rising rapidly, the same is true for Catholic schoolgirl uniforms. Wearing just lingerie is popular in the south and in the hotter months while weather permits. However, it is illegal to wear red lipstick or red nail polish, more natural colors are encouraged. No women cover their heads unless mandated by their profession of weather conditions. Unattractive women have plastic surgeries and lyposuctions paid out of their own pocket until they are determined to be at least a 7/10 by the Federal Bureau Of Pleasure.

In my republick, women usually wear very durable and efficient clothing of the same fashion as men, just fitted for lassies.

this doesn't prevent then from dropping their drawers in a public bathroom for a quickie...sex is the national pastime, after killing insurgents and midnight lot riots

gotta make them future soldati somehow... :p
