Currently, I'm using a 10-man section consisting of a modernized MG34 (i guess basically a MG3????) fulfilling the SAW role, with a Colt LMG being used as a more mobile SAW and as a DMR.

I'm wondering how impacted my section's firepower would be if I replaced the MG34 with another Colt LMG since the IFV or wheeled death truck would be much better at suppressing combatants

Two colts, drill the squad fire so that only one colt fires at same time at normal conditions and another starts firing when mag of currently engaged one runs try and its gunner starts reloading procedure,

This.
Modern safety helmets like that are for things like helicopter insertions, and other things.
Or were intended to be. SF units are not immune to tacticool either.

So you're going from a GPMG to a SAW? That will be a big drop. But it is where modern armed forces have been going.
Or you could be like me and get bigger sections and keep the GPMG but add another SAW.

Well depending on the taper of the cartridge, it should be curved. Or are you using 7.62x51 like an uncreative pleb?

A magazine similar to that one was suggested to me when I posted the WIP version. I'll draw it onto the gun later, since I'm gonna be off to bed soon.

If I went with bigger sections, then I'd need to add an additional IFV for transportation. Which really isn't that huge of a deal but I'd like to avoid it if at all possible.

Korva recommended just sticking the GPMG in the IFV/APC and bringing it out when needed.

Too, fwiw, I planned on using either MWG 90-round snail drums or just Beta-C mags with them

Do two handed chopping weapons such as my large sickle sword thing wielded by auxillaries/irregulars/mercenaries have a place alongside a Romanized army? Is there anything they can bring to a battle?

Or is it maybe even possible that they have a place in the regular army?

If i have a 12 man section comprised of two 6 man assault teams is it worth arming one with heavier weapons to act as a "support team", whilst the other acts as a "maneuver team"?

Section
Assault team A (Support team)
Squad leader with UBGL
GPMG gunner
MG assist
Sniper/marksman
AT specialist (AT4/MBT LAW)
Light AT (M72)

Assault team B (Maneuver team)
Team leader with UBGL
Automatic rifleman
Rifleman with shotgun
Light AT (M72)
Rifleman

For work against shields, how could it be issued to the regular solders? Since they make up the entire front line I assume it would be used by 1 out of *however many men* in a century.

I'm working on a rifle for Balkens alongside my boatload of other projects, it's just a bolt action rifle in 8mm mauser, ect. Taking shitloads of different elements from 1880s european boltguns (this is straight pull, no bolt-knob just yet, still shading it). I think it's turning out alright insofar.

It's got Schulhof, Mannlicher, Liegeoise 1888, 1st Model Schmidt-Rubin, Lee-Metford & Commission Mauser bits, plus a werndl rifle inspired kooky trigger guard for flavor reasons.
