I'll get on it.

EDIT: Okay, as you'll see I've added three categories, one for things you've endorsed, one for ideas that haven't been shot down by you yet, and things that have been shot down and probably will continue to get shot down. I've sorted all of the stricken links to the bottom of the endorsed categories as well.

Just noticed, good stuff, thanks!

I have an idea, you know the national animal, leader, capital city, religion, etc. Well, could we have like a national anthem, a national seal that you can upload, and some other cool nation stuff.

The Confrederated Clans (and other Confrederated Bodys) of the Free Bears of Bears Armed
(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years. If the nation is classified as 'Anarchy' there still is a [strictly limited] national government... and those aren't "biker gangs", they're traditional cross-Clan 'Warrior Societies', generally respected rather than feared.

Hey. This is a semi-serious nation (despite the flag), which operates on the ideals of libertarian municipalism and Communalism. I don't RP though (at least not currently), and you'll probably only see me on Forum 7 or General.

Veteran of the site for 7 years (yes, I lied about my age, bc I was too precocious for my own good).

Pro: Libertarian socialism (social anarchism), Communalism, social ecology, religious freedom, rights for each and every LGBT individual everywhere, equality, feminism, Dubcek, Marxism.
Anti: Oppression, capitalism, state/church intermingling, Marxist-Leninism, Maoism, fundamentalism, creationists.

Speaking anecdotally, I'm not entirely sure they would have the server space to accomodate national seals and anthems in addition of flags. Logically, if they already limit the file size of flags, they would presumably have to limit it further (or limit something else) in order to accomodate more media. I'm not entirely sure if this is the case though, and seals/anthems would be a nice addition if it turns out to be workable.

Just an idea: when all the newbies join the WA and get that TG, how about telling them that:
1. It may be the World Assembly, but NS is a universe.
2. (more important) It's nice to post your idea on the forums before submitting.

Following from this thought:

Unidox wrote:Ok... This thread really belongs in Arts & Fiction. I understand posting it in General because A&F doesn't get a lot of traffic, but how else do you expect Arts and Fiction to grow if you do not post in there?

This was from a thread in General about Clint Eastwood quotes.

It's true, Arts and Fiction is a rather sleepy forum. There isn't any doubt that the thread will go faster and longer where it was started (General) than it would in A&F.

To some extent, starting the thread in General and then having it moved will encourage Generalites to post more in A&F. But it's also quite likely that by the next day they'll have forgotten the thread, because it isn't there on the first place they look which is the top page of General.

So, we still have the "moved" link for threads which have been moved, right? I'm not sure it's always put there where the thread was moved from. If not, it should be.

I'm making two suggestions:

  1. (Nuclear option) Could a thread like this one which isn't out of place in either forum be MIRRORED on the two forums? This might not be technically possible I realize, and would probably add to the server load.

  2. Could the "moved" link be made more persistent in the forum the thread was moved from? It seems to fall down the page (sorted by most recent post) just as fast as a locked thread does. Instead, could it be bouyed up by new posts in the other forum? This could apply only for a limited time, say two days, and after that it could be allowed to fall as they do now.

(I'm mostly thinking of this as a way to encourage Generalites to use Arts and Fiction more, though it might apply also to threads moved to other forums.)

Quite sad that A&F is so deadish (my word!)

Some seriously emotional conversations happen there.
