If anything, we could transition into a completely moneyless society if it need be, with little loss. Not to mention has been seen as ideal in the past by wide eyed idealists. Senyosu is largely meritocratic in society anyways and as such money is not important. What matters is your skill, talent, ability, and competancy. That, is what is important here.

Is it likely? No. Even with the assumed 'small loss' we cannot and will not risk it.
