Our leader is Lovecraft inspired god who only vaguely realizes he's the leader of a country most of the actual ruling is done by FanT AI system whose only concern is the defense of the land at all costs including the destruction of said land.

Long ago, the Church of a dying world built a difference engine powered by human souls in the hopes of contacting God. The Theurgic Engine never accounted for gods other than God. When it found the skies empty of divinity it entrenched its circuits into the nerves of Primordius. It is only a matter of time before the Engine bleeds itself out, but the Church continues to repair its broken toy with brass and bodies. The patchwork of corpses and clockwork continues to spew its impossible enigma unimpeded as the Church breaks itself over their great creation.

We fear breakdowns in order so much that the anything which yields even the smallest sign of chaotic behavior is introduced to copious amounts of anti-matter.

It is entirely possible that the Machine Inquisition has identified locations similar to the above in the fact that they fail to adhere to physics, but the Inquisition is also very thorough about eliminating disturbances.

Despite being in an alternate Earth where most countries are communist or socialist, wars still happen between the "reds". The Third World War was actually fought between the USSR and PRC.

While we are not entireley like the real earth, we are in a universe where America "kicked commie ass" during the cold war, meaning capitalism was to stay ... for better or for worse.

We have never been on the losing side of a war. But, we have also never been on the winning side, either. We are pacifists who do not fight unless we are attacked. And if someone does attack us, we simply hold them out of our territory long enough for them to eventually lose interest. We do not counter-attack.

We take great pride in military and warfare, and out of seven wars fought in the last fifty years, we have lost none of them.

The roads between our mega-cities are still very dangerous, with assorted criminals is supercharged vehicles and treacherous road conditions spelling the doom of many travelers. Because of this, road vigilantes often join police in protecting the roads.

The leader of our military, Overseer Iris, is an AI. Oddly, there exists a religion in Aeiouia which literally worships her. However, Iris strongly dislikes being worshipped, and is a major advocate for secularism.
