Great, now we've got to deal with the inevitable influx of noobs and aspiring super-trolls - granted, they all last about six seconds before realizing our mod team is one of the few in the world to actually give a shit, but still, six seconds for each adds up. And just when summer was ending too.

Just to put it in perspective, the rate of new nations per hour is usually averaging around 60 or so, with fluctuations depending on the exact time of day. This evening, I'm guessing since about the time that podcast went live, the new nation spawn rate has spiked almost to 800 per hour. Right now it's tapered off to a "meager" just under 600 per hour.

Guess Yumyum's and Monitor's intiation period will be a baptism by fire.

But yeah, the podcast was just reading out some of the less eloquent bullshit (I couldn't even find the thread they were reading out from, but I've no doubt that it exists), so no wonder the user spike is full of users being twats.

I'm curious as to how this measures up to past mentions on popular sites. Are there any statistics that would tells what the record is for most users joining in a 24 hour period?

I'm also wondering how the rule violations measure up to mentions on other sites. I know the site was mentioned on 4chan's /his/ (History & Humanities) board a few months back. The entire thread was either people wanting to start a region and take the game seriously or people reminiscing about how they used to have a nation. I've always been curious as to how many people saw the thread, didn't post and decided to troll here. Probably wasn't that many as /his/ isn't one of the big boards.
