No, but let's switch to hitting. Let's agree that Crystl Bustos was one of the greatest softball power hitters of all time. Her longest homerun was probably 250 feet, though she claims one hit in an exhibition in Waco went at least 350. Hard to know with short fences.

Yes but half of hitting is the speed of the pitch. So, softball is just that - soft. The pitches are soft. There's less energy.

Which then begs a question I don't have an answer for. What does that sort of hit look like coming off a 98 mile an hour fastball? I do think that, with time, the hand-eye speed issue can be resolved.

Sure, but Monica Abbott's 70+ mph fastball at Tennessee didn't exactly move like Wakefield's. If we could develop players with Abbott's power and Wakefieldesque movement, we'd be golden.

Or at least exceeded Tim Wakefield's meager velocity at minimum and probably fall into late career Bartolo Colon area in the 80s, maybe grazing close to 90.

No. Women don't have the same physical capabilities as men. If they want to have their own league, that's fine. But it'd just be unfair to have a woman play in the Majors.

Depends on the style of swing as it could be Giancarlo Stanton 500 foot home run or a seeing-eye single from Jose Iglesias.

Sadly know. But, having taken AP Physics 1, I can at the very least say that the reduced mass of a baseball would mean the power put in but the motion would definitely grant an increase in speed. Also, from experience, overhand puts in more power than underhand.

We're seeing whether Monica Abbott's 70-72 mile an hour softball fastball (the record speed, IIRC, was 73 from Japan's Yukiko Ueno) would turn into a 98 mph beast if thrown with a harder baseball and if a power-hitting softball legend could translate the increased pitch speed from a 250 foot home-run into a 350 foot one?
