Yes but half of hitting is the speed of the pitch. So, softball is just that - soft. The pitches are soft. There's less energy.
Which then begs a question I don't have an answer for. What does that sort of hit look like coming off a 98 mile an hour fastball? I do think that, with time, the hand-eye speed issue can be resolved.
