What if: Your country becomes a Leninist/Maoist country?

Let's say suddenly tomorrow out of nowhere, there is a referendum being held and it succeeds. The proletariat takes over and a Leninist or a Maoist socialist state is established. This is a hypothetical so let's not talk about whether this is realistic or not.

For those who know nothing about soviet society: https://www.marxists.org/history/ussr/culture/

How would you react to the change? I would personally be really happy about the change and be really happy that there is socialism in one country.

If OP is too short mods, I can expand to explanation of how a socialist state works.

I might actually join the inevitable rebellion. I'm a diet leftist, you see.

Assuming they weren't hostile to the Church, I would support a Leninist country. However, I wouldn't like a Maoist country.

What's wrong with Maoism?

Life won't change too much in all actuality here. We'll adapt quite easily.

EDIT:

I'd be quite happy

My family didn't leave the CCCR for the states just so another failed revolution can happen.

I'm going to go buy as many guns as I can carry and barricade myself inside.

I would flee.

Although I love my country, I just don't see the point in killing people and blowing up buildings when the people want it.

I would probably move to Switzerland.

They don't touch personal property.

People who voted kill people and bomb, why are you going against democratic process?

I'd get into the streets and cheer. And of course laugh at my right wing friends.

Because, at some point, tyrannical governments must be opposed.

I'll also be singing kumbaya with some of my fellow socialists.

I think I would have doubts about the validity of a referendum that came out of nowhere, with no campaigning, and supposedly passed.

I would firstly make sure my family is able to flee to another country, preferably Canada/Australia. Then I would fight against the regime or flee to Australia/Canada too, whatever is the best then.

"Did any of you guys vote for this referendum?"
"No."
"Then how the hell has the flag been changed?"

Probably accept it as inevitable and work to make sure that nationalism became a viable force in the new republic.
