Not really, but if Trump even achieves power... all I know is that I am at the point where I feel Trump is the leader the USA deserves. Not to support his policies, but because his character reflects that of most of the American population.

Baton Rouge is Baton Rouge. Other parts of the US are completely different. The racial dynamics vary wildly from one place to the next -- though I would say race relations have been getting worse lately overall.

If you made each US state an independent country, most of them would be normal-sized countries. And they are spread across a huge geographic area, so it's not like people from New Mexico and Vermont can just hop in the car and drive across the state line to visit each other for the weekend. So when you hear a news story from the US, you can't assume that's just what the whole country is like any more than you would hear a news story from Portugal (which has fewer people than New York, Texas, etc.) and assume that France is the same way because they're both in Western Europe.

Everything from homicide rates to what sports people like can have huge variations from one state to another.
