I suppose I never really did either, it's just been subtext to other phases, occasionally surfacing more dramatically here and there, but it's been years since the days when I would be scolded by the school librarian when we went to the librarian every week because, of the three books we were supposed to check out, they couldn't all be on maps and would I please find at least one book from another category.

Serious withdraw symptoms included attempting to label actual rivers I was walking beside and putting dot-dash borders between properties in the neighborhood. Had to get into a 12-step program.

So what are you surprised about?

The fact that no one's called the cops on him for as long as we've been in the neighborhood, which is to say for the last three years. And he gets pretty fucking loud, there's got to be some domestic violence going on in there.

I can't, I'm never up late enough to hear him yelling, it's my parents who do. And I don't think they're going to call the cops unless they start hearing gunshots or something.

Dammit.

Anyways, I really need to get around to calling a friend that I haven't seen in a while. Haven't seen her in a few months.
