Personally, Kosovo's future should be decided by the residents of Kosovo, no matter their ethnicity.

They did that, and the results were overwhelmingly in favor of getting the fuck away from Serbia.

It should be monitored by an international organization, and the results should be binding on all parties.

Solution is easy. Give the Serbian populated areas of Kosovo on the border with Serbia to Serbia

What about Kosovo's cultural and historical importance to Serbia?

This is more complicated. Kosovo had been part of Serbia. There were Serbians who had lived there for centuries. Has you can see on the map I put on before, there are parts of Kosovo which are majority Serbian. These areas, which generally only make up two large areas, should have had there own referendums. Question should have been do you want to continue being part of Serbia or stay with Kosovo.

Ideally the northern mostly Serbian bit should go to Serbia while the south should go to Albania. Though that's complicated and there's no urgent need to have it become either right now.
