If Mexicans migrated to Oregon or California(California as the closest state to Mexico, Oregon is where I live), and had a massive population there, and suddenly wanted to become part of Mexico, does that make Oregon/California Mexico?
Hell no.

I wouldn't mind kicking California out of the union.

You're kidding right?
It's one of our key economies and states, and is extremely important to our military and political power.
It's also one of our biggest on USA military and naval bases, and is a large part of our economy.
I reckon you want to kick Texas out too?
Kicking those both out or either, would be a big blow to the USA economy, perhaps but not definitely and not likely a fatal one, but it's only 61% unlikely for it to be fatal, roughly.

But Mexico used to own California, until all the Americans migrated there, had a massive population, and declared their independence...

Does that mean California is still Mexico?

This post is incredibly hilarious when you consider three historical things
1) Who originally lived in California
2) Which colonial state first owned California
3) How America acquired California

Yes yes I get it.
But I was using that as I couldn't think of a better alternative.
Except maybe Crimea belonging to Russia, but then that'd start a flamewar.

But that's not the point. Yes it happened. But that doesn't mean it should always happen, especially to a national homeland.
Let's say that Syrians migrated to Ukraine and vastly outnumbered Ukrainians. I dunno how they would, just throwing it out there.
Then they want it to be Syria.
Does that mean that it's Syria if the Ukrainians are outnumbered?

Just cuz some massive ethnic group migrates there doesn't mean they suddenly own the place and should go to that country.
Hell if that was true, then we need to really reshape our world map.

I decided to try to use a Mexico-USA analogy, simply because it popped to mind first.

Well no, but that's not the point.
I fully recognize that different ethnic groups migrate to other countries and sometimes take over. But does that mean that it has to happen every time? Read this post.

An ethnic population shouldn't decide what country it belongs to, simply because that causes political instability, and would make the world xenophobic, and their xenophobia would thus be justified, if one day immigrants want to have that country be part of their own.
Also, it may have been doable and even approvable in the past, but society and geopolitics is different now- If we were to do that, we'd be in chaos and people would hate immigrants and people would be joining countries, than another country once another majority that moves in there wants to join their former country...And that'd be a destabilizing factor globally.

Solution is easy. Give the Serbian populated areas of Kosovo on the border with Serbia to Serbia

The following a Kosovo ethnic map. Serbian areas in dark blue - http://www.balkaninside.com/wp-content/ ... Kosovo.gif

I'd not kick out the Arabs or Muslims, but I sure as hell wouldn't give the land to Syria.
