This is nearly impossible to do, as its impossible to tell when a minor is accessing your website (in most cases).

Because that's not already wildly open to abuse on such platforms in terms of blackmail material.

Empowering blackmailers isn't very liberal.

By making the creation of websites without appropriate means to stop minors from accessing them illegal. Quite simple, isn't it? Police look for websites or have them reported with no such restrictions. The same methods for tracking down the 'even worse' parts of the genre you note below- it is worth it, considering the psychological effects this kind of thing can have on minors. It would not be difficult to get this through Parliament.

but how? we don't control the world. do we set up a massive internet fitler or firewall of britain to block the majority of the world's porn sites? and how do you actually verify? credit card? personal details? so now we have the government filtering half the internet and having the ability to track the most intimate usages of it by its citizens. can you see how that's a bit of "road to hell is paved with good intentions" scenario?

Anything involving minors or non-consensual intercourse is illegal

so legal actors, people roleplaying and drawings not created using real images are ok then? again, kinda nitpicky, but i need to remove any doubt.

but I am bearing in mind I am at school, it is a risky area, and therefore I do not want to go into detail on that subject.

i suppose i can understand if you want to avoid talking about it, admittedly with the caveat that the people that can't even have sex with their partners without knowing if the government has arbitrarily decided it's too kinky for their tastes cannot avoid the law

Cocaine, heroin and other class-A substances punishable with heavier penalties for drugs such as marijuana, which would be punishable upon supply with intent to use, however not in possession with intent to sell. Again, harder to get through Parliament, however merely an extension on current laws, reducing the impact drugs have on society in the case of less-severe substances by accepting they are used, offering the freedom to do so, whilst fighting to destroy the illegal industry.

you know what would destroy the illegal industry and stop people profiting from crime? legalizing it.

incidentally, have you need the new psychoactive substances bill? what a trainwreck.

and then what? sue the kids if they lie? arrest the parnets?

There are several issues with such a proposal that have been noted, not to mention that this does nothing to resolve the distribution of pornography via other means (sending images via communication sites, for instance).

In short, there is no foolproof method for to ensure that minors cannot see illegal material.

Yeah, I've put a fake date of birth into every single website I've ever made an account on. This is not, in any sense, illegal.

People can lie when making an account. Just making it illegal won't do anything. Piracy is illegal - people still do it. Such restrictions are not easily enforceable.

No, and, obviously, this is all rhetoric speculation. But there has to be a way of stopping minors accessing such material, or at least make it much harder.

And that, right there, is why you should never, ever hold a political office.

There are ways of making it harder (indeed your proposals could do this), but many of these ways would also make it more untraceable, by driving the dissemination of such activities deeper underground.

Perhaps education on this would be a more successful allocation of funds, though indeed law enforcement should still play a part.

That is slightly better than state-sanctioned murders, bribery, or having GCHQ plant incriminating material on hardrives and then having the details of this material leaked to the Daily Mail.
