Not sure about age, but Kyupaa has the highest population.

Well you get 1 billion people in 6 months.

What I do is chop the population number and will tell the answer.

Kyupaa's population is 29.838billion
Chop it in half and you get 14919000000, 1 billion is 1 year and Kyupaa hass played an estimate 14.1 years.
Nationstates was originally Nationstates 2 before so Kyupaa propably even experiened the old version before the current

I was 2003 (from memory) as the original Leonstein (unjustly deleted! ), and got into NSG during the jolt days. But before then there was another forum and I think a few of those folks are still around too so that'd be your starting point.

Population growth can be affected by a few other factors besides just age. Because of that I've heard mods say that population alone doesn't necessarily determine the oldest nation.

A nation also doesn't grow while inactive. So there could potentially be nations older than Kyupaa but they ceased to exist at some point and have since been brought back

While population can serve as a halfway decent ballpark, there are nations older than Kyupaa that have smaller populations. A nation's population does not grow when that nation has been auto-deleted for inactivity, and there have been instances where a 2002 or 2003 nation went inactive for 8 or 9 years before being reactivated; those nations are older, but their populations would be smaller than a nation that's been active the entire time.

This is entirely inaccurate. Nationstates stated in late 2002 and is still running. Nationstates 2 was an entirely separate spin-off/sequel game that ran between late 2008 and mid-2009. Nationstates is owned and operated by Max Barry. Nationstates 2 was owned and operated by Jolt/OMAC Gaming operating under a license and in partnership with Max. 2 entirely different games.

Roania could be the oldest, when you look in the member list and order it by founding then you will see that Roania is first. Although it is listed by Antiquity, the list seems rather random so maybe some leftover code is still ordering them by actual creation. Not sure how accurate this is though.

My 2003 nation has been inactive almost since it was founded, except for a few weeks of activity in 2009.

My 2004 nation has been active almost since it was founded, except for the occasional few weeks of inactivity.

The 2004 nation has more than 10 times the population of the 2003 nation.

You heard wrong, then; or misinterpreted what you'd been told. NS2 was an entirely separate code base and system from NS1- nations from one could not be relocated between games. Around the time NS2 was crashing and burning, many players probably shared some variation of "NS2 is going down, quick, go back to your NS1 accounts!" Most NS2 players already had NS1 accounts, since Jolt was trying real hard to get people to move from free-to-play NS1 to pay-for-stupid-crap NS2, but those few players who came to NS2 from elsewhere wouldn't necessarily know about NS1, and would likely have been told about NS1 when Max took back the NS2 URL and posted an explanation after Jolt took the game down and tried to use it to herd players to another one of their crappy games.

Even that isn't going to be 100% accurate, since all the Antiquity nations lack founding dates. :P And if a nation never visits the forum (more common than you'd think!), they wouldn't be in the forumside member list at all.

It appears to be reasonably accurate as Blaatschapen and Ballo are ranked before me, I know they predate this nation. Crazy Girl was founded after me and is listed later.

This also makes me the oldest surviving non moderator Dutchie. :eyebrow:

The only way the question could really be answered would likely be "Who's the oldest non-antiquity nation". Amongst the oldest of us there's no way to tell and it's not like any of us could remember.

I think I founded in April of 03 give or take, but it's not like I wrote it down.

Just for giggles the oldest non-antiquity nation I could find was Menelmacar founded December 18 2002.
