I think his stated reasoning for even potentially buying the items you reference (more comfort, more accomodating, easier aiming) are rather far from sole 'fantasy fulfillment'. I mean, seems to me like that would be restricted to the folks with the underslung chainsaws or such.

And those things only really exist for the novelty of the idea. They aren't widely owned, nor likely to ever be abused. Even if they are purchased for the fantastical thrill, what possible harm does it do?

Exactly, I don't someone is going to build this assault rifle with laser sights and extended mags or whatever else, to go mug someone. Most criminals just use whatever they can get their hands on, and adding shit like just makes it more expensive and easier to track

The views you described were ignorant. That didn't mean you,the person, are an inherently ignorant person. That's a hell of a logical leap. Of course, passing immediate judgement on me as a result of poor reading comprehension is also a pretty big leap in logical reasoning, so I shouldn't be surprised.

Firstly, fully-automatics are already very heavily regulated and there is literally no point in banning them.

And semi-autos? Really? That's practically every gun since like 1910.

The thing about guns is that, well, they exist. It's not like we can un-invent them or something. They'll always be around, for better or worse.

I think that there should be more extensive mental health screening, more background checks and a closing of the gun show gap.

But in terms of so-called "assault weapons," you can kill people with a .22 rifle. That's happened multiple times in Finland, and you'll never ban .22 semi-autos in the US.

Actually, a semi auto .22lr firearm can run afoul of many (if not all) of the state level AWBs, and the expired federal AWB.
