I prefer to just chat up gym, not really a sports guy.

Or sneak out to a local coffee shop.

Then you're lazy. Simple.

O please, as if the only way to prove your worth is by displaying athleticism or showing some will to exercise.

I can code fairly well, I make an effort to be cultured and understanding, I'm fairly good at making people feel comfortable, and I have an eye and feel for design.

I can use all of those productively into something that matters more than physical activity.

If people weren't lazy, we'd never have invented machines to do shit for us.

Did I say it was the only way to prove your worth? Of course it's not, but you could perhaps make an effort.

We have them during any period that fits into our schedule(Some have it at 1st period, some have it at the end of the day). Also, high school here usually ends around 3:00 pm(15:00), so yeah...

Or, y'know, get done with your PE credits and not have to take it.

I'd be caught dead before I actually put in effort in gym.

I used to sweat whenever I was in gym.

Then again, I've been doing kickboxing since I was 9 years old, and then pretty much been practicing martial arts on my own. So I knew how to sweat just by hitting the punching bags.

Ugh, seriously. You have no idea how happy I was that my high school only required PE for freshmen year. But then my issues with how LAUSD does PE is probably a whole other thread unto itself. Or a blog post, anyway.

I can do a lot of things and still find some time to go exercise nowadays.

Not only because I need to get in shape and keep being in shape, but also because being in shape helps my health and how I feel about myself.

They did require PE for freshman year for me, but I never really took it until I was a senior student.

I pretty much did whatever the fuck I wanted back in High School, now that I think about it. :p

Those of my peers who play sports (We don't have a mandatory PE. fortunately.), have told me that our locker rooms don't even have showers. Even if they did, almost nobody uses the sports locker rooms.

Unfortunately is a very strange word to use in this context.

Even if we had usable showers (we were a poor school) there was never enough time for it

A government agency (i.e. the school) compelling teenage kids to take their clothes off (even with the best intentions) is bound to get some kind of uproar in this age. Beyond that, people are more sensitive. Teasing, exposure to human bodies, etc. is more taboo than it used to be.

You can always take showers with shorts and/or shirt on you. :)

Well, that's a bit weird.

I don't think people want to go to their next class in wet clothes, or to put their gym clothes into their locker still wet.

My kids don't shower...

They're junior high school students. Imagine summer, hot, humid, Japanese summer. 36 kids. Right after swim class.

There's no A/C in my classrooms.

I have seriously thought about asking for a gasmask.
