Who is your favorite world leader?

Postby Arslaniya » Sun Nov 15, 2015 1:39 pm

Title says it all. Which leader in this world do you consider to be your favorite? It can be for any reason. Feel free to say Trudeau because he's handsome, or Putin because he wrestles with bears. :D

Personally, I very much admire Almazbek Atembayev of Kyrgyzstan. Yes, I know, many of you haven't ever heard his name before, but that's alright. Now you have. :) Kyrgyzstan isn't too relevant in terms of global politics and certainly not the global economy, but I've researched it a lot due to my personal interest in Central Asia and it's inhabitants.

Atembayev is a man who deserves respect. He is a peaceful and respectful leader who runs what is arguably the freest and least corrupt ex-Soviet Republic in Central Asia. Sure, Kyrgyzstan may not be as "successful" as Kazakhstan, but when it comes to leadership qualities, I don't find that to be relevant. He strikes me as a benevolent leader who truly cares for the wellbeing of his citizens and peace with his neighbors.

If you would like to watch an interview with Atembayev, you'll appreciate him as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8VOM0EykBs

(He does look quite good for his age :P)

I would probably have to say Merkel, mostly because she's managed to fund the entire EU but not fall apart with them, so that's a plus. Also, not really a lot of horrific intent coming from Germany, as well as a respectably moderate government.

Angela Merkel

She takes a lot of flak since people tend to associate her with everything they hate about the EU, but I like her. She leads Germany well, has been pretty hardline about getting rid of corruption and is a genuinely likable person.

Really? Most of us here in the Netherlands see her and her Germany as the "Fourth Reich", and she's often considered as a pseudo-dictator because of her oppressive decisions against Eastern Europe, the Benelux and Finland.

If people don't want it, then they shouldn't. Merkel can't play kaiserin von Europa and force her 'own' 'people' to do anything her socialist elite wants them to.

If they don't like it they can show it via the ballot box. It's called democracy you should try it. Since when is her CDU party remotely socialist?
