Yeah, or worse... people who underestimate and think they aren't good at all.

When talking to people on the internet, that's not as annoying.

Like my jazz teacher said on the first day; "get it into your heads that you pretty much suck."
Which is his way of saying 'you can only go uphill from here'

Yeah, and I may not suck... but I can't be much more than middling.

By my past experience you should primarily feel patronized, with a side dish of weary resignation.

'Be more mature and rise above pettiness' was the jist of it.

It's not, persay, the response itself I have a problem with, but compared to another incident not too long ago in my region, it makes me basically confuzzled/minorly upset.

Rising above pettiness tends to be a good guide. Although, sometimes those asking you to rise above the pettiness can engage in pettiness themselves but eh. The site's pretty much free and the are rules and what not, so what can you do? Either fester on it and develop an ulcer or carrying on with your day. It's a forum, hardly damaging.

It depends on how much offense you're going to allow a collection of pixels and lights (a poster you'll probably never know personally and who's far far away from you) to provoke you.

If someone I know calls me a cunt, I would be offended. But a forumite I don't know? Eh, water off a duck's back.

Irrelevant. Swearing isn't a banned offense unless it's targeting another person on the site.

I mean.

But I'm just going to go take a nap or something and let the TET veterans continue their talks.
