Sooooooo... What's there to discuss? Should we comment on the fartyness of Trump? Discuss his amazing hair? Or the fact that his entire campaign is centred around a strongman leading the nation and being a dick?

There is no such thing as Trump shaming. This is political discourse, people are going to disagree with you. That's not Trump shaming, that's common sense (in this case, at least). If you don't like people disagreeing with you, or if you don't like people saying bad things about people you inexplicably like, NSG is not really the place to be.

However if you ever go on Facebook you can see that shaming also extends to Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton, Jeb Bush, etc...
It's internet politics.I don't think it has much impact on the real facts.

Alright, you know what? You win Summer. Your average Summertimer would have just said something racist (or worse, copypasted something racist) or come up with some other run of the mill provocation. Of course using a sincere but becoming threadbare (thanks in part to efforts like these) notion used to enact social change (the idea that 'shaming' people for who they are) to not only faux support an easily goofy figure but to also do so to make a fart joke? This has it all over the run of the mill 'straight pride parade' 'intolerance of tolerance' style nonsense that we usually have to endure. I mean, it still smacks of an insular attitude that trivializes issues you lack any sort of empathy to understand and runs a line in the water slow enough to catch up as many bored posters as possible, but at least there was some genuine effort in your try hard. It was just under the wire, but you won Summer.

Really, though, tell me that these acts aren't worthy of shaming:

1. Insulting a former POW- who refused to be let go if his troop couldn't- by saying he's 'not a war hero' and 'I like the ones that weren't captured'.
2. Insulting all Latinos, calling them rapists, criminals, and murderers
3. Vowing to force Mexico to build and pay for a 2,000 mile-long wall along the Mexican border to stop immigration
4. Vowing to implement immigration laws that would have barred his own grandfather from entering the US
5. Attacking everyone on the playing field in both parties
6. Using personal attacks- really, they make his shaming look kind
7. Calling a fairly innocent woman a 'bimbo'- I don't care if she works for an insane company, it's not professional and it's not okay.


Edit: Unless you're trolling, you don't know how to run your NS Country, because a Trump supporter probably isn't a 'Liberal Democratic Socialist'.

I'm also willing to bet that someone in Trump's campaign payed you to do this or payed someone to get you to do this. This is worse than the Feminism = Authoritarianism thread.

You know, I don't think Trump would be as bad as everyone seems to think. Don't get me wrong, he's very much a terrible person, a madman, a bigot, incompetent, etc. The USA isn't an elective dictatorship, it's not as if the lunatic's being voted into 4 years of absolute power. There's a real possibility that his presidency, while certainly far from a bright spot in US history, would serve as a wakeup call to the general populace of the USA that the slope they've been sliding down is not good at all.

... That said, I'd still much prefer Sanders, myself, who is about as radical and fringe as Trump, from a US politics standpoint, if not more, except in a progressive direction, rather than the reactionary. Which of course says all too much about the state of US politics, that a man who wants to implement what is already standard practice in much of western Europe is considered revolutionary in the USA.

Shame is a psycho-sociological weapon for controlling thought. If a society creates a shame around the belief or support of X, then people in this society are less likely to believe or support X despite what their reason tells them. From this, we can see that the process of shaming beliefs is in opposition to the rational analysis of belief, for by practicing shame, we do not participate in an objective, rational discourse, but instead one that relies on psychological tactics and negative emotional epithets. This is, of course, not how our discourse should be driven.

We have many real and imagined shamings in some societies, in this case, the United States. Fat shaming. Rape shaming. The list that we could conjure is seemingly infinite. I suggest that we conjure a new, real shaming: Trump Shaming.

I prefer to make intellectual thought practical and relevant. Therefore, I will explore the dangerous phenomenon of Trump Shaming in NSG discourse and its negative impact on the forum. As an example, I once stated my support of Trump in the 2016 Republican nomination thread. A user, who I will not name out of politeness, responded that Trump is understandably synonymous with farting in some countries. I feel that this an outrageous example of Trump shaming. The only public official who deserves such a comparison is Robert Tinton. We are shaping our discourse around bodily functions and not the fact that Donald Trump went to the Wharton School of god damn business.

I'm sure we all have examples of egregious Trump shaming on this forum. As I explained, this is a horrible occurrence for the discourse on NSG and the rest of the forum.

Let's stop the Trump-shaming.
