Man, the entire notion of shadowbanning is seriously stupid. The idea of punishments is to remove and discourage problem behavior. A "secret" punishment like that literally serves no purpose but to troll whoever gets hit with one. At best, and this is seriously grasping at straws, I could see something like that being useful to blunt a particularly dedicated spam-attacker that just keeps making new accounts after the current one gets toasted. But even that's a stretch.

Well the rules of Reddit are a lot more firm.

You get less chances than on NS. I guess it's because there is a serious lack of rules, the rules that there are, are expected to be taken much more seriously.

And honestly, the general Reddit rules and sub specific rules aren't things like NS where you need a mod to step in and figure out if it violates the rules or not; it's very clear when posts violate rules.

do you mean when a bunch of people made a secondary forum? because there are two major incidents that fostered it and neither of them were minor. there have been a few shitstorms though so it's hard to tell which you are referring to.
