Well, pretty words are just that- words. I imagine if they aren't backed up by actions and the promised better communication, and quickly, they'll go right back to square one with the shutdowns.

Like when a husband leaves his middle-aged wife for a young girlfriend, only to find that his new girlfriend is kind of a C-word so he and the wife reconcile.

From what I've been able to gather, somebody was fired in somewhat questionable circumstances, which may have been the straw that broke the camel's back with the volunteer moderators regarding communication between the admins and the mods. As a result, the unpaid mods started shutting down vast tracts of Reddit in protest and to basically send a message to the admins that "HEY GUISE! COMMUNICATION IS THE KEY TO AIR POWER! PLZ RESPOND!"

Fuck Reddit, I hope the whole site implodes and becomes another footnote in internet history. It annoyed me that they stole so much content from 4chan and tried to project their ideas onto that site. The whole reason 4chan is popular is because it is anonymous and un-filtered, which means no bullshit voting apparatus. They parrot the same content every year and repost so much that I can't tell if I'm having deja vu or not. They then flood actually entertaining places on other websites and steal the content or warp it to fit their politically correct ideals, as if it were some form of validation.

The only good part of that site were all the technical subs like amateur radio and electronics. The rest of it is a cesspit and an echo chamber for "geeks", brogrammers, gamers and angst ridden liberal teens. If I want to go have a productive discussion on RF engineering or how to get involved with hobby electronics, Reddit is the place to go. If I want to have a fun discussion about politics or history without the filtered PC-talk, I go elsewhere. Since most discussion falls outside of the technical things in life, Reddit is a garbage platform if you don't want to get downvoted or brigaded for not adhering to the standards/preferences clearly favored on that sub. I hope Ellen Pao crashes it into the ground. Let those wretches go back to Digg.
