Oh oh, my neighbors had a party this weekend, and while there was lots of bottles consumed, no one was arrested or injured.

It's Whitmonday, which is a national holiday where I live, too. Everything's closed (aside from station/airport shops and gas stations) just like on a Sunday.

Although the draws can be bloody dramatic.

Meh, not knowing about a supposed holiday that isn't celebrated around my neck of the woods doesn't bother me all that much.

It's just the first day of a month, those happen twelve times a year. No reason to glorify one of them.

Rest is definitely considered a good thing when recovering from sickness. Is there something/someone preventing from doing this?

That is the definition of boring. I am not dedicating my time to watching a five day long sporting event unless there is a 100% guarantee that there will be a clear winner, and not some lousy draw.

Oh, so it's the equivalence of Labor Day? So now I can understand what the holiday is. I still fail to understand why you guys all have it in May. September is the prime month for Labor Day, of course.
