In all my time in rural southern Virginia, I never saw nor heard of a Klan rally. There isn't really a Klan around there, as far as anyone knew.

Except for one time, this random guy put on robes and stood outside the courthouse handing out literature (not that anybody wanted it). The state troopers were standing there, protecting his right to free speech and whatnot. Until he started saying racial slurs, and they immediately arrested him for disturbing the peace.

Oddly enough, KKK incidents seem to pop up more in the midwest and the Great Plains states than the Old South these days going by news reports. I guess it's true, they're always a few years behind.

I was born and raised in South Carolina yet I have never seen nor heard from the Klan. I did see a Klan flag fly once, though.
