A long time ago at this point. Originally I randomly came across it trawling Wikipedia as I am wont to do when I stumbled upon the Wiki entry on Micronations. I joined as the perpetually edgy "Hemorrage"(correct spelling was taken), it was 2005, I was only 15 at the time. I joined the Forum after I made a new nation called "Skalvia", and I switched to this one when we moved off of Jolt and onto this forum, mostly because it was a nation closer to home, with Fort Maurepas being in my hometown.

I play the civilization series of games since early childhood and I love history and culture especially unique ones I started looking up any kind of online games that lets you control your own nation in civ style. Since I had no idea how to code at the time I couldn't just write in a new civ to the game (cut me a break I was a kid with a short attention span) so I did a google search for "nation simulator". Cybernations came up first but I had no idea what was going on in the sign up process and I eventually found Nation States instead about a year later. Aside from the fact that there was no actual warfare in the Civ series sense of it, I found what I wanted: a nation simulator. Though it had more politics than I wanted (like my interest was culture not politics and my first major battle with depression was aggravated by some of the bulls*** I saw on the forums, so that didn't help first impressions) but through it all, the Rhys and fall, it had at it's core what I wanted. It was my story to write and I love anything with that aspect to it. I was creator, in my nation I was God. Blasphemous boasts aside, and a little less melodramatically it let me shape my nation to have a culture of my choosing, though I kind of wish there were more issues helping to shape that culture but what can you do the issue writers are swamped as it is.

I joined NationStates for the first time on the 16th of May 2013, as Kazbulikstan. I found it on some YouTube channel, who had a nation called Brabantium. I looked around, created my own nation. I lost the password for Kazbulikstan after a few months and founded Soled.

I was wandering around TVTropes, wasting away the hours, when I stumbled upon the page on NationStates. I thought that it seemed interesting, so here I am!

I read an article about new ways for an artist to connect with their audience, and this site was mentioned.

I was extremely bored one night, sitting in my room alone, being a loner and whatnot. Being religious at the time, I began praying to God, begging for him to reveal to me something I may do.

The next thing I remember, I'm curled up on the top shelf of my closet, there's large amounts of ecstasy and what I think may have been horseradish covering my face, I hung and burned an effigy of Ayn Rand outside my window, and I copied the entirety of the Communist Manifesto onto my walls in red sharpie. And there, lying just outside my closet, is my laptop - two tabs open. One is NationStates. The other is a Google search on "how to make max stop."

That was over three years ago. I haven't left yet.

Help. Me.

Still there are thousands of active nations and many more are formed every single day.

In reality there are only a few thousand people here. The rest of the nations are puppets. So many puppets.

It must have been 2006 or 2007 when I started to play. Never posted on the forums, just picked sides on the issues and saw my nation develop. I think the name of my nation was Quintium even back then, but I couldn't find it anymore when I wanted to start again. Someone I knew was playing this game, and he talked about it a bit, and then I decided to try it for myself.

Some school friends invited me in 2002 or near enough to join their group for wrecking communist regions. Being a communist at the time, I informed everyone they were planning to invade before the event so they always failed. When they stopped playing, I did for a bit. Came back with some different friends a year or so later. That region died out. I lurked the forums a bit and occasionally posted, then I left for another year or so before remembering the place and setting up this nation. Nearly escaped the orbit, but no cigar.

Back in the days I got into this game because of some friends who also were cultivating their own little nation. After a while they lost interest and sacrificed their nations to the void, but I proved to be a bit more obstinate. Granted, my nation was comatose for a few years, but I managed to bring it back.
