US Republican Primaries

Postby Hallo Island » Tue Mar 24, 2015 3:59 pm

Who do you want to win the US republican primaries? Sorry if I didn't get all choices, only ten options allowed on poll. Discuss below!*

*Don't come onto this thread and mindlessly bash the GOP, because I don't even really support them, I just want to see where people stand.

I personally support Rand Paul, but his view on Iran is troubling.

Huntsman, who actually has good international experience and is far more reasonable then the above. Plus if he wins there can actually be a reasonable debate between the Republican candidate and the Democratic candidate. It really suck that we have not had a substantial debate is some time.

If I had to pick between the ones on the poll, I'd pick Christie. On second thought, Bush is not that bad either. Still, my wet dream would be an electoral dispute between Brian Schweitzer and Scott Brown.

This. Too bad he won't run and even if he did he wouldn't get nominated.

I tend to like the Establishment Republicans, and I hope to see Jeb Bush be our GOP presidential nomination, and hopefully, our 45th President of the United States.

God help us if Ted Cruz gets the nomination. I might have to swallow my pride and vote for Hillary.

Exactly what I am hoping for. Walker would reach out to more base support, the problem Jeb has, and either of these two would crush the Democrats in fundraising, together even more so.

Exactly, that is probably the best way for the Republicans to win.

If the GOP is going to win they have be moderate all the time. Romney seemed disingenuous when he was pandering to the religious base in the primaries and then tried to backtrack once he got nominated

Sadly, the way the GOP has been trending, he's far too reasonable to GET the nomination. That seems to be a serious issue within the party; during the primaries the candidates have to cater to the far right wing Tea Party fringe just to get the nomination... at which point they've already alienated the lion's share of the moderates, independents, and other swing voters come the general election. The GOP seriously needs to take their party back from the especially noisy radical whackjobs who have done a surprisingly effective job of hijacking their platform and their message out from under them.

Hmm...Rick Santorum first and foremost...he's probably the candidate I best agree with on all counts. However, I would support Rick Perry or Ben Carson as well, if need be. Christie's got too much baggage, and Cruz has sort of shown himself as too much of a buffoon.

Rick Santorum withdrew from the last primaries just before it was time for him to face the voters in his home state, Pennsylvania.

Why?

Because he knew he would face an embarrassing defeat.

We Pennsylvanians, who know him best, know just how dishonest and creepy he is.

They're all repugnant.

But if we had to have a Republican president, I'd probably go with Jeb Bush, as he's the least bad of them all. Rick Santorum and Ted Cruz are the scariest.
