Are you a Multipotentialite and Philomath?

Postby The Laxus Union » Mon Jan 26, 2015 11:01 pm

Hello everyone.

I have needed a label for myself for quite sometime. I have always had multiple passions and an extreme love for learning. It frustrates and bothers me when I don't understand a concept in, for example, alternative biochemistry. I have a desire to learn. I have never really been able to make my mind up about what I want to do in the future. I've questioning the idea of attending college ,because of this. Anyways, I came along these two names. A multipotentialite is someone with multiple passion s and philomath is someone who loves to learn.

I personally have very many interests.
Computer science, electrical and mechanical systems, physics, chemistry, alternative biochemistry/astrobiology, political science, writing/world building, roleplay, astrogeophysics, etc.

So, are you a multipotentialite?

I am just a worm paved over by a man who didn't attend university. You ought to major in something silly and pursue your life's love.

I like learning about various subjects. The more I know about a subject the more interested I am. Except pure mathematics, very boring subject.

Isn't it Polymath?

Clearly I'm not one if I didn't know that.

Apparently Philomath is distinct in that it means a seeker of knowledge and learning, not necessarily actually having any particular knowledge or skills.

A polymath in training, possibly. :p

I mean, have you, though? Is it strictly necessary for you to be able to sum yourself up in a single word, especially when you'll need to explain that word by using a few dozen more words regardless?

I'm a Polygon. Not a particularly well-rounded person, it's true, but on the other hand sometimes it's good to have an edge.

I have only a few potentials- linguistics, history, and science fiction novels. I like learning things, but not to the extent that I once did, as I am constantly trying to figure out where truth lies on the Internet.
The United Colonies of Earth exists:
to bring about the settlement of all planets not yet inhabited by a sapient species within this Galaxy and Universe by the Human Race, or all members of the species Homo sapiens;
to ensure the observation and protection of the rights of all human beings;
to defend humankind from invasion, catastrophe, fraud and violence;
to represent the interests of humankind to the other governments of the Galaxy;
to facilitate the perpetuation of the unity of human civilization and infrastructure between otherwise self-governing colonies;
and to promote technological advancement and scientific discovery for the perpetuation and expansion of the unity and empowerment of all human beings.
