US military and cultural power is unmatched right now in the world.

Exactly, and our ability to project our power all over the world compared to China or Russia, which is at best regional( granted China is doing a lot of investing in Africa).

Absolutely. Russia is actually overhyped in my opinion because last year US spent more money on military than Russia has years 2000-2014 combined.

I agree. If anything, Russia's power seems to be waning, especially with their population growth rate in the place that it is and with sanctions hitting them incredibly hard

Aha, I see what you did there.

Unfortunately, for NZ, Lorde is actually a 42 year old man from Colorado.

I wouldn't say that, the Americans are still pretty strong. They're the only threat to New Zealand.

Any idea when that economic build up is going to reach California?

I swear in OC the recession never ended... :o

Edit last time I checked the economy is going to collapse in 2017...

The stock market bubble is already ballooning...

I'm sure it has to an extent, though there are certainly areas in the U.S. still struggling. That doesn't mean the country as a whole isn't doing better. But we have a long way to go.

Not sure about that.... There are quite a few states doing well. Even Cali is doing better.

There's not going to be one single hyperpower.

The US' overall global influence will decrease, China will surpass its GDP, but there won't be another superpower with the soft power potential and global military projection capabilities of the US for more than a few decades.

You're trying to say that China lacks cultural influence or modernization? WTF? [...]

Yes, they lack modernization.Although their coastal cities equal America's in terms of modernization, their inland is still very rural and very poor.I was also talking about modernization in the sense that with strict policies about the economy and buisness they have right now they are holding back much of their potential.

It does, but it's not really one economy.

And as the past has shown wealth inequality does not necessarily equate to instability.

That is its strength.

When hasn't it eventually led to either a police state or revolution?

Netherland will conquer all Netherlands-speaking lands, Suid-Afrika and Nieuw-Nederland (with the United States in a civil war between the Palinist-Bachmannist south and the Obamunist north), while going through a second golden century.

Meanwhile in the east, Indonesia refounds the Madjapahit Kingdom and, under direction of the Mahapatih, quickly takes all of south-east Asia, Indochina, Australia and New Zealand.

What follows is an epic battle between ships of NVOC n.v. and the Madjapahit king in the Pacific Ocean, which will later be filmed Michael Bay-style.

The worst depiction of a Netherlander I've ever seen. A Netherlands accent isn't hard, piepols.

the Chinese government has indicated that urbanization is one of their top agenda items and the past investment programmes in the coastal special economic zones is now fueling increase domestic investment in the interior cities like Chengdu, Wuhan and even as far west as Urumqi and Kashgar. Canton and Shanghai no longer provide cheap labour and thus the factories are moving inland and it is this domestic investment in the interior cities that is driving growth and modernisation in rural China and that will help stabilize the Chinese economy as the sheer size of the domestic consumer base means that it can be insulated from the global dependency that the coastal cities have developed.

Also the current business policies seem to be working, the don't conform to the policies of 'western' economies but the Chinese approach may simply indicate that capitalism isn't the only viable path

Because the economy imploded after our Tiger boom in Ireland.
And it does everywhere else like Japan for example.
