In my opinion, THIS IS BULLSHIT! The kid was fucking innnocent, and from what the data we have right now, he hasn't done anything, although evidence could be shown that I am wrong. I honestly am grateful that I live in Canada, where non of this shit happens. I am not stating every cop in the USA is bad, far from it, I am just stating that I feel more safer as an African and a Black person here in Canada, as opposed to the United States.

Any thoughts NSG?

PS: I am sorry if their is another thread about it, I didn't know. If you are referring to the Ferguson thread, it talks about Ferguson, not Cleaveland. Also, sorry for the spam, I deleted it very quickly so their is only one thread.

I support the police officers in this nation. Cops go through all kinds of training and background checks. There is not a crusade against blacks, 12-year olds, or anyone else in this nation. There is obviously a reason why this happened, and I look forward to hearing about it.

I believe there's already a thread on this, though a cursory glance didn't spot it. It's also worth noting that your source leaves off some VITAL information, like the fact that the fake gun had it's Safety Orange tip (that identifies it to LEOs as a fake gun) removed.

I am just pissed of to be honest that another incident matters. I just read the article, and seeing that the many people read the NYT, it seemed like a legitimate source to me, and I wanted to create a discussion about it, so I didn't really bother to check the Vital info

Yeah, I've seen pictures of the fake gun in question, and the thing looked a lot like a real gun. It's tragic, but this one actually does seem like an honest mistake.

The police dispatcher reported that the caller said the child had a gun, but that it was probably not real. I feel the respective officer didn't take this critical fact into consideration, and he probably didn't think hard enough about the fact that he was dealing with a twelve year old.

By the way, if you are pointing a gun at a police officer - orange tip or no orange tip - you are going to get shot. That's how things work in this nation. Policemen are entitled to self defense as well, you know.

He had a fake gun for God's sake! Okay, he was a nuisance but that's no reason for a police officer to kill him. What type of training are police officers getting in America when they feel the impulse to shoot at anyone?

Okay, how about if it was your child who was shot, seriously have a heart. The boy had a toy gun and he was killed for it, the police are in the wrong. Speaking of leaving out vital information;

In a 911 call released by the police, the caller says that “a guy” who appeared to be a juvenile was pointing a pistol at people and scaring them, noting twice that the gun was “probably fake.” On Wednesday, the police released dispatch calls showing that the officers were not told that the gun might not be real. The police later identified it as an “airsoft” replica gun resembling a semiautomatic pistol.

The police knew right from the outset that the gun was most likely fake, but failed to notify the officers involved. You can already see the escalation that went on from there; the story got changed between the 9/11 call and the officers receiving the call from 'kid waving airsoft pistol' to 'black male brandishing weapon'.
