It's impossible to debate about feminism without de-constructing arguments or stating opinions. Feminists are hated because people disagree with them, if you want a debate about feminism you'll get that regardless of any rules you set. Nobody suggested putting women down either, I've absolutely no idea why you mentioned that. If you want a serious argument about feminism you need to let people state their opinion and de-construct any relevant arguments. If you can't handle that then why did you start this thread?

As a male and a feminist, I prefer not to use the label "feminist" to describe myself due to the bad connotations it has due to Tumblr and all those kinds of people. Same reason why I don't go with MRA. I want gender equality, but god damn it is annoying to state support without looking like I'm supporting female or male supremacy, respectively.

I always find it amusing that the people who complain most about 'radical feminists' never seem to be able to actually name any of them, nor quote anything they actually said. We're supposed to believe that they exist, are numerous and powerful within feminism, but are also completely silent and unknown.

They're mostly prevalent on the internet, but there are ones who are running around in 'real life' who spout such views such as someone I know named Christie.

As for quotes by radfems/feminazis/etc. on Tumblr, here's a classic: "friendly reminder that ‘dating’ is just a social construct designed by the patriarchy to keep women from fully experiencing life (^‿^✿)"

When someone hears the new f word, the picture that comes to their head is a fat, unshaven, bra burning, man hating, rape accusing, stomping lesbian or that thirteen year old on Tumblr I mention a little earlier which, in my opinion, is causing more drawbacks than progress in feminism.

On the forums I've seen the same thing. People constantly viewing feminism as this man hating and rape accusing guerrilla terrorist attack on men in order to make them slaves while the original plot of feminism is to make the each sex equal both in treatment and in view.

In my opinion, the real reason that people view feminism in such a disgusted way is not because these people hate women but because they see the wrong people as the face of feminism making it a stereotype than the actual meaning of modern-day feminism (i.e. Those thirteen year-olds on Tumblr I keep mentioning). This could be viewed as the "modern feminism" but it is not the feminism that is bringing equality in society to both sexes.
