The veto function serves as an important check on the powers of the unjust and corrupt majority. It must always stay. If it's removed, the UN faces a good possibility that the US (the largest donor to the UN) would withdrawal funding. Or worse; withdrawal membership.

The UN IS powerless, and always will be. No such thing as co-operation between powers. To be honest that's for the better, I shudder to think what a binding UN system would look like.
