China won't collapse. Hong Kong will merely be Beijing part 2.

Yes they do. Socialism and communism were in articles 28 and 40. In 2009 communism was removed from the constitution but socialism was not.

Communism and Socialism are not the same.

The latter leads to the former, but they aren't the same.

Good old market capitalism, changing the world one former communist state at a time. Whether its changing the world for the better or not is yet to be seen.

As for Hong Kong, there's too much western coverage of this issue to let China do everything it wants. I think the students will prevail, one way or another, or we get a compromise.

China isnt bloody communist. Socialism implies direct social production, a planned economy. The pro-market policies Deng implemented move china totally away from the socialist model. From 1956-1991 Soviet Union wasn't socialist either. 50% of Soviet Industry was privatized by 1991.

I actually didn't notice until you said that :lol2:

But these protests won't do anything, China isn't going to become a multi party democracy because of it.

Indeed. It's going to be Beijing part 2 at the worst.

People are just getting uppity over nothing.

Capitalism is where the private sector and state direct the economy through reciprocal checks and balances. Not socialism because a state can't direct all economic activity inside of an economy because bureaucrats can't report for all people participating in an economy; socialism is undemocratic.

Im fully of aware of the fact that socialism is a transitory period to communism. But North Korea clearly identifies Juche ideology with communism.

Democracy and capitalism are mutual exclusive terms. Not one can control capital. Capitalism is an irrational economic system that abides by the profit motive, not by any collective though or desire. The fact of the matter is that though bourgeois democracy enshrines the masses there is a clear class nature to the state. As Lenin said Freedom in capitalist society always remains about the same as it was in ancient Greek republics: Freedom for slave owners"- Vladimir Illych Lenin

Why does Western society seem to believe democracy is the answer to everything? I'm not claiming to be any more educated or generally better than the electorate but it is quite easy to notice the majority of the population does not have the capacity to vote. Enlightened absolutism is the answer.

Absolutism is inherently unenlightened. You can put the most intelligent, progressive person in the world in charge of China, but when he dies and his shitty successor takes over...
