Hey, fund my services. That's worth a few thousand out of my pay cheque per year.

That's a sentence, apparently. ^

Oh, I don't begrudge having to fund local services. I just wish taxation was distributed more fairly. Yes, I imagine you've developed quite an appreciation for water, there. The UK isn't the worst culprit for squandering water, though.

Still 100x cleaner than what a lot of Africans are forced to drink.

I'll continue to expect a terrible water service to remain free. Provide decent quality water and actually provide hot water at all and I'll accept a tax on it.

Never had any problem with paying my water tax, but that's just because the water quality over here is outstanding.

I have to pay a daily standard charge for water/sewage, then based on the amount of water I use. Which isn't particularly fair, seeing as the standing charges are way above usage costs, but I suppose they'll argue the money is used for maintenance and whatnot.

It's not even the hard water issue, that's difficult to combat on a large scale. But when the water out of my tap can make me seriously Ill every second summer thanks to e.coli outbreaks, I don't much feel like paying for it.

As an urban citizen, I most certainly do live in an apartment, yes. And let's face it, tap water doesn't just magically appear. A lot of infrastructure and quality control is needed for that to happen.

Yes, that truly is horrendous. I assume the Irish government expects people to drink Guinness instead of tap water.

Exurbia is so much better

It's not redundant like suburbia, and you get well water and a septic field

Use of alcoholic susbstance was prevalent in general, due to anti-septic properties of alcohol.

Is the water tax what you pay for used water, or sort of part of local/municipal tax system to upkeep infrastructure and you pay different pay for water usage?
