Are you an Introvert or an Extrovert?

Postby The Laxus Union » Sat Oct 18, 2014 10:16 pm

Hello all.

I have decided to make this thread in order to get a better understanding of the NS community population. I enjoy getting to know what kind of people I may interact with everyday on NS.

I have only recently dug deeper into the Introvert and Extrovert personality types. Throughout my life I have wondered why exactly I was so quiet, observant, and full of thought. I was and still am, in a my mind quite a bit. I have always enjoyed and preferred alone time rather than social events and activities. This for some reason bothered me, leading me to think there was something wrong with me. I then discovered the personality types of extroverts and introverts. My mind had been opened and I had been relieved.
I have come to understand myself and I am what is considered an introvert. Of course we are all actually ambiverts(combination of extroverted and introverted qualities)but one of the two main types is more dominant than the other.

So NS, are you more introverted or extroverted?

I am an introvert. I prefer solitude or being surrounded by a small group of people I know well to being in constant interaction with people I've just met. When I drink however, I become Porfirio Rubirosa.

Introvert. I'm okay in large groups of people, I just keep to myself and say things when necessary.

Well, I guess I'll explain a bit more.

I love talking to other people and meeting new friends. I am very energetic and get very happy when I am with others. And I actually love public speaking. I think I am very extroverted.

However, I do enjoy being by myself. Sometimes I need solitude. Indeed, I'm often seen by myself and in deep thought, maybe reading a book. But if I spend too much time alone I get sad.

I love interacting with large groups of people, and having fun with everybody. But there are a few people (very close friends and certain relatives) that I would rather be alone with. In fact, as much as I love being around a lot of friends, I can get very sad (though I never show it) if I can't spend quality time with those special people. Barring this, I love being in a collection of different minds and beliefs.

Depends. Socially, I'm an introvert. Emotionally, I'm very extroverted with family and close friends.

If introvert means I enjoy spending time alone, then I guess I'm introverted. Although if you go by the definition of whether I gain or lose energy from social interaction, normally I'm invigorated when I interact with people, so I'm not sure what that makes me.

A bit of both. I'm an Introvert when I want to be left alone, but an Extrovert if you can keep me constantly talking.

I'm rather shy and don't enjoy meeting new people. I guess that would make me an Introvert.

Yet, I don't spend much time thinking about myself (my own problems, my own achievements etc). The world is fascinating, though I don't feel much urge to leave my mark on it.

Perhaps I'm a Pervert?

I'm deeply Introverted, whenever I take the Jung/Meyers personality test, I always score 90-95% Introverted.

I am very very VERY introverted.

I have no problem spending entire weeks alone in my room playing video games, watching movies, and drawing (only occasionally chatting with a few family members and friends from behind a computer).

I find that my energy very quickly dissipates when I'm in a large crowd of people. The only way I can handle social interactions is by putting on a conscious performance; I have to play a character to deal with it because it is so nerve-wrecking and draining.

Meeting new people does not excite me, it fills me with dread. The idea of going to a job interview, networking event, or a college small group fills me with dread. I have no problem with sights of blood and guts in horror movies but if someone so much as tells me that I have to make a phone call to a certain office to try to ask them to do something, walk up to a counter to talk to someone to inquire about a certain fact, or go meet a prospective potential employer... I can feel the blood rush to my brains, I start to find that its kind of hard to breath, and I need time alone for several hours to get over the blocks...

If the state could simply pay me 50,000 a year in exchange for being able to stay at home for the rest of my life with delivery guys bringing me supplies I pay for and with an attached condition that I can NEVER leave the house to meet new people... I'd be perfectly fine with it.
