You reduce God to the level of Santa.

Santa gives out presents, though. God just gets pissy when he's not in oaths.

I thought I saw arguments toward that in this thread but offhand I can't remember whom. Course I could have just gotten the wrong impression from them. But militant atheism kind of rubs me the wrong way as they tend to use tactics similar to those they accuse theists of using.

Or when women eat apples. Or when people live too long. Or aren't subservient to him. And that's just three of the temper tantrums he throws in Genesis alone.

For a diety who is supposed to be loving, he sure gets angry a lot over some pretty petty shit.

Oh come on. You know exactly what I mean by militant, and that's people who attempt to convert everyone else to their religion.

But since you brought it up...

Obviously violent atheists are a very small portion of atheists who in no way represent atheists as a whole, but to deny they don't exist is just ignorance.

I personally dislike the classification of those who are for the forced invocation of God in the oath as Christian. IMHO a Christian is someone who follows the teachings of Christ, and as Christ taught us not to swear upon anyone on Earth or in Heaven, it is quite clear they have no interest in Christ's teachings. Not sure what they are, though maybe given their legalistic obsession with the misapplication of Mosaic and Levitcal law as a form of social control and self-promotion.... Pharisee may work as an accurate descriptor.

That is a horrible picture there. Bad comparison. "Militant Atheists" are rarely as aggressive as the one in that picture.

As if the rest of the positions of the religious right weren't clear enough, you mean. ;)

How can someone effectively serve in the military without God's help? They can't, that's how.

Their sig says they're agnostic. You may have fallen foul of Poe's Law there.

That's the second time you've made a completely absurd statement regarding God or Christianity today. Are you sure you know what either is?

Is this what passes for a logical argument nowadays?

A terrible Kevin Sorbo movie and an inherently un-Christian statement are not clapworthy arguments.

The USAF seem perfectly satisfied with this airman's service so far. But I'm sure they don't know anything about military service compared to you.

Gotta love that bit in the US constitution about separating church and state, right?

Have you missed that the Air Force have changed their policies back and no longer require people to swear by God?

Would you have a problem saying "Hail Satan" every time when signing something?

Be fair. He isn't saying "without believing in God", he's merely asserting that God loves Buddhists and Confucianists!
