That's bad historical practice... it's broadly equivalent to coming up with a theory and then finding facts to support it. One shouldn't try and force evidence to say things it doesn't (which is a likely outcome of looking for a biggest factor). No quite as bad as the response I was intending to make was going to be (i.e. thinking that a deluded terrorist's assessment of the invasion of Afghanistan as the biggest reason is reliable) but still something to avoid.

You've got that last part all wrong. See, the Reptilian masterminds are disguised as British royalty, with George W. Bush being among their underlings. Barack H. Struggle of economy to keep the military budget high + de-collectivizing economy without setting the prices of the national companies high so that an oligarchy is impossible + free media + discontent of the population due to the distribution = economy collapses + panic + nationalist tendencies + oligarchy + free media criticizes the state and there could break a really violent revolution out/revolution = fall of the USSR.
(luckily, that revolution didn't happen violently, at least in Europe except Russia and Romania).

That's my list of what caused the fall of the Soviet Union.
