BBC News: Ukraine crisis: Lavrov warns over Russia 'regime change' goal

Western sanctions against Russia over its role in Ukraine are aimed at forcing regime change in Moscow, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says.

Speaking to foreign policy advisers in Moscow, Mr Lavrov referred to calls for sanctions "that will destroy the economy and cause public protests".

On Thursday, President Vladimir Putin said Moscow must guard against a "colour revolution".

Russia denies arming Ukrainian rebels or sending Russian troops there.

Western sanctions were first imposed when Russia annexed Ukraine's region of Crimea in March following a controversial referendum.

Further measures have been added since, targeting senior Russian officials as well as defence firms, banks and the country's oil industry.

On Thursday, referring to popular uprisings in former Soviet countries including Ukraine and Georgia, President Putin said the world could see "what tragic consequences the wave of the so-called colour revolutions has led to".

Ukraine's 2004 pro-Western uprising became known as the Orange Revolution, while Georgia's Rose Revolution took place in 2008.

"We have to do all that is needed to ensure that similar things never happen in Russia," Mr Putin said.

Addressing the advisory Foreign and Defence Policy Council in Moscow on Saturday, his foreign minister said: "As for the concept behind to the use of coercive measures, the West is making clear it does not want to force Russia to change policy but wants to secure regime change."

"Public figures in Western countries say there is a need to impose sanctions that will destroy the economy and cause public protests," Mr Lavrov said without naming any Western officials.

... is suffering loses. Like, pretty heavy loses, despite all Kiev's attempts to conceal them.

1) Just look at this Ukrainian video! Here we can see a check-point near Debaltsevo. The amount of beer bottles can testify to the local troopers high standards of discipline and battle readiness. They are absolutely not fazed at the loss of their UAZ and a "fucking large amount" of tank shells and mines after they were hit by Novorossiyan fire. At the end of the video our nameless narrator admits, that it is "not cool at all" and "really scary".

2) And here we can see NatzGuard positions abandoned during their hasty retreat. Not all abandoned hardware were even destroyed surely, Donbass militia can repair some of them. Among trophies - lots of crates with ammo and shells, and various foodstuff - including nearly mythical American Army's Rations.

3) Here is yet another one Ukrainian tank destroyed by Novorossiya.And another one. The general state of destruction of these tanks leave very litlle to imagination, as to the fate of its crew.

4)And that's the general view of NatzGuard positions near Ol’khovatka after Novorossiyan "Grad" shelled them. Maybe it was the work of legendary artillery brigade of Ataman Kozytsyn? Who knows...

5) So far, UkrArmy and NatzGuard are more then capable of inflicting losses on themselves even without Novorossiyan "help". Like when in Kharkov UrkArmy truck crashed into a civilian truck (with frozen meat) and capsized. Was it actions of elusive Kharkov partisans? Who knows... I sincerely feel sorry for all that lost poutlry and pork meat - THEY WERE INNOCENT!

But what is really without doubt, is that UkrArmy managed to hit their own positions with Tochka-U ballistic missile. Oooops... Because the Ukraine is actually denying the use of ballistic missiles against Novorossiya.

6) And lets not forget about heroic defenders of рiдной нэньки Украiны from totally handshakable and highly cultured NatzGuard battalions!

Like - look at those so called "cyborgs" defending (what little remains of) Donetsk airport!

Funny, seeing as I've read somewhere people consider them, the Nationale Volksarmee, the successors to Prussian Glory, rather than the Bundeswehr of West Germany.
