I don't see the point of smacking, often parents don't tell kids what they did wrong, they just smack the kid and say "You know what you did wrong". I was beaten as a child, even when I begged for my father to stop, he didn't. I forgot what I did wrong, I just remembered the belting not what I did wrong. Many parents go overboard and that is why I am anti-smacking.

If you smack your child lightly on the hand, as a last resort, and clearly tell them not to do what they're doing, that's acceptable discipline.

If you hit your child to the point where they have bad bruises or broken bones, then that is abuse.
