And while we have a statue of Lenin, why not have a statue of Hitler or Castro?

I can't tell if you're joking or not. I'm going to assume you aren't.

It was just a bit of fun that one guy had, when he found a big bronze statue. It doesn't make the entire city a bunch of America-hating commies.
Also, it's secede, not succeed.

What about a Hitler statue?
I'm sure that Jewish, communist, gypsie, Russian, Polish and others would really appreciate it.

Depends, was it made at the time? Don't forget that the different concentration camps allow visitors.

I don't know, seems they are succeeding just fine.

These assholes don't either...

Statues of controversial people are made all the time.

I found the Bushes to be particularly good presidents ( of course they made mistakes, everyone does), and I think they will have more of a legacy than our current President will ever.

I really don't see a problem with it. Might be better off in a history museum, but it doesn't really matter to me.

Oh my! There is a statue of a communist in Seattle! All Seattlians must be anti-American commies!

Well, aren't you a caricature.

I am perfectly okay with this. That's fair justice to such a monster.

Lenin in drag. Now that'd be a sight. :P

This conversation is over. >:(
What would you say if the Hitler statue was in a Jewish neighborhood?
Oh, it's just history.
People don't always want history shoved in their faces all the time, newsflash.

Again it depends, most likely I would request it be moved (if the rest of the neighborhood agreed). Seems to me the people of Seattle don't mind it being there. You do realize I am Jewish by the way.

Wrong. Seattle has elected avowed Marxists to its City Council. All of Seattle may not be Marxist idiots, but if there's enough retards to elect Marxist trash to the city government, the city clearly has a Marxist tumor leeching off of it.

Honestly though, I don't see why you guys are making such a fuss over this!

To be honest, Lenin's ideas were not that bad, socialism and, as a matter of fact, capitalism can work if applied correctly, I mean look at the Scandinavian countries of Denmark, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden (and Finland, which isn't exactly Scandinavian), these nations have managed to govern themselves with a successful mixture of capitalism and socialism. Which sounds almost exactly like liberalism.

What horror! There is someone in the Seattle city council that doesn't cum all over capitalism!

Honestly. I've heard America's still a democracy. If people in Seattle want a Marxist in their city council, then why the fuck should I care?

Most of Seattle is either leftist or Marxist. Most (but not all) of them are too stupid to see anything but one of their heroes there. -and I have proof. They have elected Marxists to office under Red parties.

You are aware this could be considered flaming, as we have Marxists on this forum, right? Also, nice non-sequitur.

How does saying that Seattle has a ton of Marxists because they have successfully elected a Marxist to their City Council even remotely a Nonsquitur? The first statement (Marxism heavilly infests Seattle) is directly supported by the second statement (this must be true because their City Council has an official Marxist from a Marxist party in its ranks).

Because has little relation to whether or not the town wants the statue to be there.

I fail to see how you being Jewish is relevant. It doesn't make you any more correct or insightful on the matter. I assume that you were not a victim of Hitler's.

Keep it, why not? While I really don't like Lenin or communism in general, anyone ever heard of Freedom of Speech? Anyone? Especially you conservatives? It seems to me that the conservatives are the ones opposed to the statue, but they profess to loving the constitution! What!? First Amendment!

(FYI: I slightly identify as a conservative, but much more so as a libertarian)

What if it was a statue of Hitler? Pol Pot? Stalin? Keep it! If it were to be in private property, the government shouldn't be able to do anything about it.

In public property, although, the slope becomes a little slippery. If the community wants it down, then they should express their opinion via city council meetings, rallies, and protests. The city then would eventually take the appropriate actions. If no one cares, just leave it up!
