Tumblr in general, do not overgeneralize it. Furthermore, there are more level headed SJWs there, except it's honestly going to take effort to find them and speak to them one on one. On a more on topic note, the main thing one should walk out of learning from the gender expression and sexuality rights movement--just don't judge people beforehand via the conventional norm (gender binary and other misconceptions), that's really all there is to it. Mutual dialogue starts when personal judgments are extinguished.

Mostly does not equate to all of us being loons. Nor does it equate to the whole website being bonkers. (stay away from fandom tumblr it gets nastier than sjw tumblr for the love of all things holy the reason to avoid tumblr is for the tendency to implode for every fandom war that occurs)

Eh, this is the nitty gritty bits that I myself rather not speak of. That's where it varies on the person. Some people are more likely to get offended, some brush it off, some don't care. Your mileage may vary greatly, since society is for the most part the norm. Do what you see the most practical to you. Hence why I said casual apathy is the best policy. It really begins with one somewhat accepting people for who they are, but even then, one can be casually apathetic if one comes out gay or trans.

Your mileage may vary. Think before you act, but choose what you find the most practical to the situation. If they get offended, don't call them out--or do (this were the vagueness level gets extremely high) in regards to the situation. Being overly PC is bad, but basic human politeness, is good. There is a difference between paranoia of offending someone, and being not judgmental.

Communication, polite communication, is a matter of thinking before acting--but more importantly it is about conversing without judgement, only with a mindset of genuine openness.

Also, disregard the noise of SJWs, if they are genuinely in the extreme, ignore them. If they injure your pride, walk it off. If they threaten you, turn the other cheek. You should not step to their level and start shouting as well. You, automatically when they start hurling the insult and cyber bullying canon, have the higher ethical ground and have the choice of dismissing them. Ignoring them--when they are screaming--in such a case, is not kowtowing to them, but simply dismissing them.

Again, YMMV (Your mileage may vary), when greeting someone--it's difficult to think on that too much. Go with the gut reflex. When conversing, disregard the personal judgments--or talk to them about it. YMMV on their reaction, and based on the reaction, YMMV (again) on your response.

Conversing with mindfulness, in regards to the notion of YMMV.

This is, just a suggestion and a very halfed assed explanation on my part. It's more on how to not be paranoid of offending someone, which, in all honesty, not going to be too too common.

1. I think she would eventually. Its just in the short term that worries me. I think I'd have less of a problem if I were in the binary. She'd at least understand that, methinks.

Why's she hate it, and what's she trying to force you to change it to, if I may ask?

She doesn't want to call me Jay because she calls my brother that sometimes, which I didn't even notice until I asked her to call me Jay. I told her she could call me Jared or Jordan, but she says that's "too weird." She keeps suggesting really feminine names, which is not what I'm looking for.
